Here is what I'll be working on:

Swirls, scratches & water spots. OEM Polo Green metallic.
First time with DA.

The plan:
Wash
Meguiar's Clay Kit
Meguiar's Ultimate Compound
Meguiar's Ultimate Polish
Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax

Got a Lake Country 5" backing plate in my shopping cart just waiting for the pad selection. Also if I go ahead and get a smaller backing plate also would the 3" or 3.5" be a better choice?

Thanks

Get 2 compound pads, 3 polishing pads, and a finishing pad

That is a pretty safe selection that gives you a variety of different situations to deal with. If are doing a 3 step, you have everything you need, if you doing a 1-step, you can use the polishing pads, and you really only need to use the finishing pads for your LSP or if you have a super soft paint, then a very fine finishing polish

A little more help with the vehicle? Is that a GM color? Will you be detailing more vehicles?

IF...lots of assumptions...that is a GM truck and you'll only be polishing it, and at that, only as often as needed...I would recommend going with a 3.5" plate and 4" pads. Personally, I'd go with three orange and three white (and then apply the wax by hand).

If I'm guessing wrong, clarification on your end will really help.

Sorry, I should have given more info. It's a 94 Corvette and the only other vehicles I'll be doing are daily drivers,a 05 Colorado & 04 PT Cruiser.

Thank you for the responses. Order has been placed. I went with 2 orange, 3 white and 1 blue (on sale right now! :xyxthumbs: ). After taking a hard look at all three cars I got a 3" backing plate also and 1 each of the the 3" hydro-tech pads. Lots of tight spaces.

Thanks again.
