Help Me Detail My 2013 Civic SI

Well I would be much happier polishing the car myself, guess I can live with the scratch a little longer till I decide what to do with it. Maybe a little compound and polishing will make it to where I can live with it. Atleast I can get the rest of the car looking good without screwing that up I hope lol :buffing:

I'll tell you a secret--touchup paint is laquer, (factory) clearcoat is two-part polyurethane. Rather than doing a lot of compounding and sanding, just messily touchup the scratch so it doesn't bother you so much, and later you can just wipe out the touchup with lacquer thinner and do it again.

Or just get the Lankga or Dr. Colorchip, you can still wipe it out later if you don't like the way it comes out.

Would the lc flat black finishing pad be soft enough for wg paint sealant or should I get some blue pads also?

I think there are too many grades of finishing pad, I can never figure it out. Personally I rarely apply LSP's by machine, so don't go by me. I think the black pad should be fine for that.

Appreciate all the input and advice Setec. All I need to do now is put an order in at AG and get to work.

Way too much information for a newcomer. Sanding is better left to Pro's so it is last resort application for sure. Take any product line and apply their 3 step approach and you will be fine. If you want a guide to color of pads vs. cutting ability Lake Country website has all the info. Touch up paint will only give you limited results so test panel is really only way to go. What I do is get a cost to refinish the panel where the scratch is prior to trying to correct. That way I fix my cost of screwing up. I encourage you to keep trying to learn as it is very satisfying when it works out and you know if it happens again you know how to deal with it (experience).
