Help Me Get Rid of Brown Stain

Almost looks like rust in the photo. If so, I'm not sure what will get it. Another option that it sounds like you haven't tried is an organic cleaner. I would try a pet urine type product and steam if you have it.

I was just thinking the same thing.

I know this sounds crazy or dangerous but... I had received a sample (gallon) of FC-1 Floor and Grease Trap cleaner from "Strata International" for testing in the auto detailing field.

FC-1 is an all natural "Microbial Digester" type of cleaner. The fresh, live microbes digest hydrocarbons, (think very fresh and concentrated batch of Nature's Miracle) this cleaner is the only thing I have used that will remove rust stains in carpet like the one you have in the photos.

With all the choices we auto detailers have, I haven't ordered any FC-1 after testing but it did work very well in all the areas that I have tested it in.

It almost looks to me like the spilled liquid ran towards the bolt.

Something I would try that I have used on everything else and has worked wonders (although I have never tried it on vehicle carpet), is Dawn Power Dissolver.

I have used it house hold carpet, grease stains in the car port and on several other things.

I would also test this in a very inconspicuous spot first just to make sure it doesn't ruin the carpet.

Folex works really well on general stains. For "specialty" stains it's always a little harder to remove them. With carpets you don't want to use force to try to remove the stains either. You could easily damage the fibers. Different types of stains need different cleaners. Depending on if they're protein based etc. The carbona stain devil system has worked well for me. It has 9 different cleaners depending on what the stain is from. They're the same type of cleaners that you can get from janitorial supply stores, just in smaller bottles so you don't have to buy gallon jugs.

i would steam first to try, then saturate with folex, let stand 2-5 min [depending on impatience LOL] blot hit with steam again!

IF it IS RUST, ive heard that soaking in a solution of lemon juice mixed with salt for 24hrs helps to loosen and remove, but ive never tried it.

Try the ammonia solution. Must be hot! Use an iron if necessary but be careful not to melt synthetic fibers.

Use the wet towel/iron technique (if you don't have a steamer) after letting the 50/50 ammonia/water dwell for a couple minutes. Like this from another thread:

soak the red stain liberally with clear ammonia. Allow it to dwell for about 5 minutes then scrub the stained area vigorously with a stiff bristled brush.

Next, get a white 100% cotton terry towel about the size of a tea towel, fold it in half and completely soak it with water and lay it over the stained area.

Take a pre-heated steam iron used for ironing clothes (on steam setting) and apply pressure over the soaked 100% cotton terry towel for 10 to 15 seconds and remove the iron.

At this point you should lift the towel off of the stained area and see red dye all over the towel. Repeat all of these steps (including the ammonia dwell and scrub) using a clean water soaked towel each time until you no longer get red dye in the towel after steaming with the iron.

I learned this tip from a "real" professional carpet cleaner. It doesn't always get 100% of the red out but often times it does.

If this doesn't get all the red out, you might want to search "Fabchem Inc. - RED ZONE" Copy & Paste. or get a new Mat if you don't want to do all of this.

It works on many stubborn stains, not just red.
