Help Me Pick A Camera

If would like some good camera info go to this website and study up, lots of good no-nonsense info on cameras, with recommendation's.

Ken Rockwell's Photography Updates

I have used his info to inform myself on camera decisions and buys and never been disappointed.

Ken's knowledge and recommendations are widely disputed in the photography world. Some even call him a liar. However, I used his site when I was getting started as well.

I agree on most points but the Nikon kit lenses are pretty darn nice. This has also forced Sony to include nice glass. Can't comment on Canon. You can take stunning photos with a kit lens if you work within its sweet spot.

I'm just starting to get into photography, but I'll throw my hat in for the Sony Nex-5N as well. I'm really loving it so far.

Shot both cameras...... quite a bit. I found the Canon EOS to work best for me. Nice Glass. 28-105 usm is a killer all purpose lens and very cost effective as well. Most every pro / semi pro I know shoots and loves their Canon EOS. Just what I am seeing out there. Best of luck moving forward.

For still photos, I think Nikon is better. I have been loyal to them for quite a number of years and never have been disappointed. But Canon is better for sports pictures.

You do know that it's the same camera as a panasonic lx5?

Leica is top notch but one has to be careful. With the M range you can't go wrong.

Based on threads like this and a friends recommendation, I have a new camera that will be delivered today....Im the MAN

i like SLRs but find them too bulky for day to day. and if youre not going to carry it, youre not going to use it.

most mid-range point n shoots will have most of the same features and options an SLR has without the higher quality lenses. they wont be as good in low light or shots from a distance but for detailing pics, i believe it will more than adequate.

learn the fundamentals of photography and even camera phone pics will look dramatically improved.
