My new VW Alltrack has some textured plastic trim around the wheel arches, as well as on the rear bumper. I'm trying to decide between the following products:

-Dlux - Reviews seem very good, but obviously not cheap
-Blackfire Trim Sealant - Not going to last as long, but cheaper, and gets good reviews as well
-Gyeon Trim - Can't find a ton of reviews, and similar price to Dlux

As far as prep for any of these, would McKee's wax remover and then eraser be good prep? Currently have Meg's PP 365 on the trim.

Thanks in advance for your expertise!

I would also toss out Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant. I was not a fan of the Blackfire trim sealant as it would gum up for me.

As far as coatings go, DLUX and Gtechniq C4 have worked for me. I have used Gyeon Trim on the engine bay plastics of my dad's car and I did not have any issues with it either. I have heard of some saying Gyeon was a bit hard to work with. Even Gloss Coat works pretty well on trim.

Is the trim in good condition? Meaning any sort of fading?

x2 on the WG. Easy application, durable, and a little goes a loooong way.

Thanks. The car is brand new, but the trim does look a little dingey if that makes sense. That being said, what would your suggestions be?

Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant.

I have been using it on my Rogue for over a year + now. It is easy to apply and lasts 4+ months. I'd say at the most you would apply it 3 times a year. I have been very happy with it.

With Megs 365 on the trim, I bet you'll have a had time truly removing it. So a coating may not be a good idea unless you get aggressive with the cleaning

I'd go with the mckees plastic restorer, I like it better then wolfgang

Solution finish. Then buy their sealant or if you can't find it, they recommend meguiars trim coating.

Solution Finish is good. Unfortunately the sealant is only available to the professional detailer. I would top it with something like Wolfgang Exterior Trim Sealant. Which Meguiar's trim coating are you referring to?

Dlux without question. I applied it to my truck over a year ago and it’s still going strong.

I have an early production mk7 built 3 years ago. DLux made it look better than new again. Used the rest for my wheels.

They recommend meguiars detailer D4510 as a top coating. I thought it was hard to get their sealant. Sucks.

Wow that's a write up. Seems like black wow and pro, solution finish, the coating gtechniq I think and Wolfgang trim sealant are the only ones worth having. I think the D4510 the trim coating will help all of the professional dry feel restorers last longer, that has to be why solution finish also recommends that to be used with them if you can't get professional sealant from them. Probably wouldn't help one of those slap on silicone filling trim dressings.

As much as I liked D4510 it just doesn't last. 2 weeks at best as it is still a trim dressing and not a true coating. I would consider something long term.

Heck I have used solution finish and topped it with GTechniq C4 and Gloss Coat. Both worked well and lasted a few months.

Ah great tip I had no idea. Haven't been able to follow it longer term! Thanks I'll use gloss.

Like I originally said I thought it would help longer. But have not been able to follow along with it on anything since trying it. Deduced that since it was recommended on a page to buy solution finish "top with meguiars". Very good tip to top with opti

What is interesting in the big test is how decently the TW product performed, especially for the price. I wonder how their endurashield trim product performs?
