Hey There!

I am overwhelmed with all the options on getting a good first detail kit put together. This is what I have in my cart. I'm really F'ing confused on the polishes, what the heck to use for what?! I was going to go with chemical guys Why? No reason, named sounded cool and their description was easier to understand. That said I am still lost on what to use haha. I am sure I dont need all of this.

Please help me understand the polishes and what to use. Umm one thing I like to do is apply wax by hand. So my finishing touch will be that. everything else I am lost.

My car:

2001 Acura cl in silver. I dont know if its ever had a solid detail. Ive clayed and waxed it, that's about it. I want to do the whole 9 yards and would rather drop 6-800 on equipment than 250-300 for a complete detail. Most importantly I want to learn to do it.

Hi pajy,
I see you haven't had any responses perhaps your post is too general.
My suggestion is to disregard your options and start again.
YOU JUST NEED PRODUCTS that...
1. Wash - a good quality car shampoo
2. Dry - chamois or waffle weave towel
3. Polish - understand polishes, try Meguiars, either Professional or Domestic
4. Wax - any quality wax
Once you understand the above procedures and products then move on to
1. DA Polisher (the polishes and waxes above would work)
2. A set of pads for above (start with 3, but you need to understand how these work)
Don't get fixed on product brands, I use Meguiars and Chemical Guys, Meguiars is a little easier to understand then Chemical Guys.
PS: A pressure sprayer is essential.

My obsessive wash procedure is (but it is my car)
1. Iron-X wheels when dry then rinse off
2. Snow Foam
3. Rinse
4. Wash with 2 bucket and grit guards
5. Rinse
6. A clay bar option but only every 6 months - 12 months
7. Rinse (this stage is not really necessary)
8. Blow-dry then waffle-weave towel dry
9. Paint correction with DAS6-Pro (you only should have to do this once and ensure you don't add swirls and marring in your future wash and dry procedure)
10. Sealant, like Chemical Guys Jetseal 109
11. Wax, like Chemical Guys 50/50
and it goes on and on...

Interior, I haven't even touched on these, reply if you need more specific advice. Don't post photos of the products (we all know what they are) but do post many photos of your car, that's what we want to see. Come on forum members, I am only a novice with my advice, please comment.

From Perth, Western Australia.
