Hi I have a leather issue with a 2009 Toyota Rav4 Limited that I hope you can help me out with. The leather wasn't trashed by any means, but it did have some areas where various dye transfers were very difficult to remove. I used various common leather cleaning products to start with... Meguiar's, Mother's, and Lexol which did very little to nothing with the dye transfer. So I bumped it up with a steamer which helped, but to my surprise still wasn't dong the job to my satisfaction. I then used some Meguiar's APC Plus at 10:1 with my trusty Swissvax brush (Swissvax USA: Cleaning brush *Link supplied only for materials reference in case someone thinks this thing is not good to use) and this was working and I incorporated the steam along with the APC Plus and I had 1 area that got funny on me. I don't know if it was the steam or APC or a combo of both or if this area was "stressed" and reacted poorly to this, but I have an issue. There is some discolored spots in one section. The leather dye or the leather itself came off? Keep in mind the APC was applied uniformly. I say this area may have been stressed because one little tiny area that clearly was worn down (scuffed) had the same reaction and discolored/spotted. What can I do to correct this? Is there a dye or some other method I could use to get this back to normal and match? Can a replacement section be purchased from the factory and sewn in? What would a leather pro charge to do this as this is not something I have ever done and I may seek out someone else to do it. The area looks worse and appears to be a much larger area in the pictures... in person it's not such a large area. Thank you for the help.

I've used Leatherique in the past... I don't think I need either of those products at this point. I mean I think this leather is damaged. :)

Junkyard? Easier than buying a new seat from Toyota. You can't get just that section of leather. Maybe the seat bottom but not a section.

better yet. Here's a video for "Classic Coat"

The top coat can be easily replaced. A local leather technician will be able to help as the colour will need to be matched.
Hope this helps

You will need them period!!!

The leather in your photo is damaged and you will have to redye the seat to repair it. Send a sample of the leather to Leatherique so they can exactly match the colour. See the other ridiculous Leatherique thread this week for more information of how it should be done.

I really don't know why so many guys here make such a big deal about redyeing a piece of damaged leather. It's really not that hard and the various Leatherique websites around the world have plenty of examples on how it should be done.

Please - do we need another 13 page thread of mainly useless comments just because the word Leather is mentioned.

Two things this forum just doesn't seem to understand is how to use Leatherique and Meg's M105. Both products work extremely well, please just learn how to use them and use the search button because it has all been said multiple times before.

^^^^^Get up on the wrong side of the bed or what? We also don't need someone ranting and raving over nothing so chill out. It's the internet dude.

OP- As said the top color has been removed. Look into a specialist in your area like leather furniture repair or the product line T. Dave linked.
