Hello all and thanks for any help. I got a Griots Garage DA Poisher and I am using it for the first time. I am applying Best in Show wax and need some help. I have applied to 1/2 the trunk and 1/2 the hood. The wax looks like it has little spots in it. I just washed the car with Meguier's NXT wash. Any help on why this could happen would be appreciated

What are you working on?

The Best in Show wax is a finishing wax, it should only be used on paint in excellent condition, that is paint that is clean and smooth.

What condition is the paint you're working on?

Also, since this is your first post...

I clayed the car three months ago, have applied pinaccle wax twice in between. I keep the car pretty clean and only drive on the weekends. It almost like brown dust. Could I be using too little wax and it is drying while I polish or I am polishing too much??? When I removed the wax there are no issues but the brown dust seems to be wax????

Brown dust?

As in the tan color of the product or something else?

When machine applying a wax or paint sealant you want a thin coat but you should be able to at a minimum see a film of product behind your path-of-travel. Like this,

Wet film behind your path-of-travel

I'm thinking that it's little globs of wax....are these brown specks sticky or tacky?

I do see a trail and it is a tan color like the product. Could I be using too much or not pressing hard enough and getting spatter? I am hardly pressing down at all actually. I am too afraid of doing damage. Thanks for your input!!!

You want to apply light pressure, enough to make sure the face of the pad has good contact with the paint as you've moving it over the paint.

You should also be on the 3-5 speed setting.

What size and type of pad are you using?

:)

I've used BOS Wax and had a problem similar to this. I hit it with a quick detailer and microfiber and it came right up. I was applying it way too thick. It was my first time applying this wax. BOS must be applied very very thin just like everyone talks about Collinite 845.

Think I figured it out. Was not putting any pressure down, I think this caused the wax to splatter around. Probably using too much as well. Thanks for the help!!! AG is awesome!!!
