Hello all, I have had a hard time with marring on my 2016 accord v6 sport and finally got to using D156 as a drying aid with great success :)

I currently have menzerna powerlock on the car as my LSP.

I plan on coating the car soon using PBL diamond paint coating - and will also add Souveran as a topper for that extra glow (the car is dark brown). The package is on its way to Dubai as we speak. I got them both as it was stated that its a good combo due to synergistic compatibility.

I do not want to inflict marring as I have experienced before when the car was new.

Q1. Would it be okay to continue using D156 as a drying aid on top of my coating + souveran combo? I would like the paint to look as good as it does now - and continue this without any marring etc. and would like to be as safe as possible = this paint is really soft.

Q2. How often do you re - wax? Every 40-60 days avg?

TIA

Skip the Souveran, you will love the way the coating looks on its own. Wash the car with something like carpro reset, or any other shampoo that doesn't leave behind any waxes, polymers, gloss agents, etc (reset is made specifically for coats cars.

Use a quick detail spray to lubricate your towel as you dry, no need for a spray wax, it will alter the properties of the coating. I usually use chemicals guys speed wipe for this.

Skip the Souveran!! (well there goes $50 plus shipping to UAE :P )

I shall take that into account - Now to figure out what to with the gallon of D156 I have lol (also cost a butt load).

I can source meguiars locally, do you know the Detailer line version of Ultimate Quik Detailer? I think it was M something.

bump....find it hard to believe no one uses a drying aid with coatings...

I agree. I would recommend the PBL coating booster if anything or the PBL detail spray. I have PBL V2 on my mom's car and it looked great. I did use PBL coating booster just to try it.

You can still use D156 as a drying aid but as stated up above it will alter the surface tension. You will see the characteristics of D156. Same can be said with ultimate quik detailer or M135 which is the bulk version. M34 seems to be ok as it doesn't leave anything behind.

I typically dry with the DP turbo dryer so no need for a drying aid. I have used M34 as a drying aid before which works fine.

Thanks Guz. I agree that I will see the characteristics of D156 - I am actually okay with that as I know the coating is under it tbh.

What I am more concerned about is the marring inflicted. I live in Dubai and by the time I go around the car drying it with a leaf blower, the other half has already dried and left water spots. Its really HOT here. This is why I was concerned with the marring (dry towel) even with a coating. D156 has helped tremendously with the marring since my first post about it in January and the car is 99% spotless and marr free if not 100% since then.

Would this case alter your response in any way :P ?

I would sheet the water off, but even that doesnt get all the water off.

As for the Souveran, it would be gorgeous on top of the coating - seen it recommended plenty of times. If anything it will wear off in 2 months but its worth trying after spending close to $70 on it with shipping (3oz)

D156 won't last very long. Use it as a drying aid; reduction of marring is the primary concern here. I also assume you don't like throwing money down the toilet. Personally, I would use the Souveran too. It's not like it's a very long lasting wax that is hard to remove. It's a beauty wax; it'll wear off quickly, especially under that hot Dubai sunshine.

Have you ever used Megs Last Touch undiluted as your detail spray? If so, where would it fall in place when compared to the other options you mentioned? Would it be more of a leaves nothing behind type, or more in line with Ultimate Quik Detailer?

How does D114@1:128 compare to M34 Final Inspection? Any big differences? I've always been curious about purchasing both D155 and M34, but never pulled the trigger.

I ran out of D155 long ago and since I get M34 at my local pep boys since they stock it. But both are similar in that they are both detail sprays that add gloss to the paint. The difference being that M34 is body shop safe and of course the dilution ration for D155 makes it more cost effective for those that detail full time. Both are different than UQD or M35 as these leave the surface hydrophobic.

The difference between D114 and M34 is that M34 will leave the paint more glossy and slightly more slick.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I dont mind if D156 alters the coating characteristics - at least I know the coating is still under the D156 and is protecting the paint and I am not inducing marring - making the coating a waste of time and money - both of which i dont have much of lol.

I have the same car color as you, and surprising to me when I apply souveran. It's ugly...

Even it's look dark brown but souveran flex mute characteristic will make your car look dull, and lack of the glossy they have. Don't get me wrong, I love souveran to my soul and it's beyond amazing on black and very dark or red color. This brown metallic just not match, it's not like to go deep and mute. You notice when you look direct 90 degree to your door (not 20 or 60 degree) this brown just brown, not dark as look from other angle right? It's deep dark just not enough.

By the way, when I apply Synergy on top, the glossy is beyond comparison.

I would also recommend something like Meguiar's Ultimate Wash & Wax Anywhere or a dilution of their D115 as your drying aid. It's going to give you that extra lubrication that the waterless washes bring to the table to protect against marring, and I've found in my recent test that it really does well in maintaining the water behavior of the wax underneath. More so than their Ultimate Quik Detailer even though UQD is more hydrophobic by itself on bare clearcoat compared to W&WA. Leaves behind a great gloss as well, might make you think twice about topping with Souveran but I know I wouldn't be able to help myself from putting Souveran on the paint sooner or later.

Sticking with the PBL line with the booster or detailer is another option like Guz mentioned, it's on sale right now but still pricey for only 8oz.

Agreed, I want the PBL booster/detailer - but getting liquids shipped all the way to Dubai - never making that mistake again. This is why im asking if i can keep using D156 as Meguiars is all what I can source locally.

I picked up a gallon of d156 in february and I have more than 3/4th left.
