Hey guys and gals, remember me!?
So, I'm detailing today, my Porter was VERY hot, when I got done with the Edge bleu pad to take it off, some of the pas literally melted onto the the PC adapter shaft, a bunch of it actually!
Do I have to oil this thing?

Aha! So you are the guy Surfer is always talking about!! Welcome back!
Your pc is getting too hot - I am sorry I can't help you there. Mine has never done that, but I am sure there is someone else!
Good luck!

Scooter, something is wrong with the PC if it got that hot, PC always run's hot, but to do what you did...never had that happen before with my Edge pads and I run full tilt at speed 6.

Does your Edge pad wiggle at all?

Are you using an extension cord? If not the proper gauge it could be stressing the current and the PC can over heat.

I you are using excessive pressure on the PC it will bog and in turn over heat....

The main cause of a PC over heating is a lot of downward pressure....bogging the machine makes it draw more and in return heats up...the heat travels right down the spindle ..thats why some get melted plates and pads....try to use very little pressure....it will work ....

Really, little pressure? I thought you had to push somewhat?
Yep, I normally use a good extension cord, but this time I was using a cheap one. What is the proper gauge? I bet it is a combo of these things, plus it's friggin hot today anyways! Had to do the wife's car.
I know you'll ask, so...
green pad, my special mixture of compound and polish, yummy.
blue pad (one that burned) Mez final and CG Pro polish mix
Wolf sealer
Will follow up with either Souveran or something nice. It's a metallic maroon?
Probably out some strong wax down low, seems to always be my method!
I'll try the PC in a few more days with a good cord and see what happens then. If it still does it, tell Meghan that I will be sending this sucka baaaack!

Scooter ...a good extension is needed....I use a 12 guage...but a 14 will work....the longer the cord the thicker guage....on my 100 footer I use a 12 guage.....on my 50 I use a 14 guage....my PC runs cool...also do not cover the fan vents in front with your hand..LOL....that cools it also.....

use a good extension cord and less pressure and see if that helps....

A cheap cord will over heat a PC also....

Scooter, I'm sorry to hear your troubles but glad to see you back on the board. I've missed your posts.

How's the wife? How's the band?

Ha, thanks guys! I chimed in a few week sback as well. Just too busy with grad skewl, lovin', and stuff!
I get a detail in when I can, but next summer look out, all detailing!...I hope!
Wife is well, band is getting there. Doing Hard Blues now, working out the kinks and should be playing by fall.

lmao, my professor is definitley back..grad skewl lol

When I was doing the detail this weekend, I was using a cheap extension cable and it made a difference: the PC was running very hot!

Also, my E2K blue and white pads deteriorated more quickly than expected. Guess its the softer foam composition. If anything, I have to lift the PC to keep it from bogging down even at the 6 setting. Am so looking forward to replacing it after amortization costs are covered.

When I bought my PC it bogged down and got hot too. I saw on other posts about the spacer. The spacer and a good extension cord really made a difference me.:D

Length of extension cord is a big factor also. Longer the cord the heavier it needs to be.
