Help Pick My Products ('13 Accord Sport)

Hey guys, I'm picking up my '13 black Accord Sport this week and I wanted to pick up a few things to keep the paint looking good. We also just picked up a '13 white Civic for the wifey, so it looks like I'll be getting plenty of time to detail lol. They're new so it shouldn't need too much, but I'd rather start early and keep it the best it can be until I need to purchase a PC. I'm not looking to spend a ton of money, but I understand I need things and so I'm hoping you gents can help me out! :dblthumb2:

UWW+ Concentrate

Seems this is cheaper than Infinite Detail Juice and just as good. Same with ONR



But I don't know what to do for:

Wax/Sealant
which one?; remember I won't have a PC so something that I can use by hand until I pick up a PC..maybe in year or so

Claybar
I'm not sure where to look here since the car will be new and probably won't have a lot of contaminants, but I still want to get something that will last and wont break the bank

Tire Shine
Any good ones? I had someone really rave about Carpro PERL, but figured I'd ask to see if there's something better at the same price or cheaper.

Microfibers
I have about 15 microfibers, but they've been used for awhile so I'm retiring them to wheel duty and to be used around the house. I've had someone tell me to check out MicrofiberTech. I'm not quite sure what towels I'd need, but obviously just some for QD, Wash and interior (see below for interior question)

Interior
I saw a youtube video from a member here about Carpro PERL vs. UWW+ Conc. and it seemed PERL was better. If not or if there's something better then I'm all ears...once again...as long as it doesn't break the bank. If UWW+ or CarPro PERL are some of the better one's, then I'll use those since I'll likely already have them unless someone mentions alternates above

*Is using a microfiber to apply product to the interior plastics and leather the best or is there something else?

Also, the interior will be a black cloth, but will have leather on the door panels, arm rest and other various places so some interior cleaner that's safe for both would be great!

Bottles
Last but not least, I'll need some bottles...unless stuff pans out to where the stuff I buy isn't a concentrate or can't be diluted.





I'm sure these questions are answered on here somewhere, but in tons of various threads. I usually can't stand it when someone ask the same questions that can be found on the same page, but I think this differs in that I'm asking questions about quite a few different aspects of the car.....and we just had a little girl 3 weeks ago so I'm tired and can't take much time to research! lol. Cut me some slack guys!

I forgot to mention that I'll need a wash bucket, so if there's any good wash bucket 'deals' with good products or something then I'll have a look at that. If not, I'm assuming a 5gal. from here will do fine.
 
I see your an OU fan I graduated from there in 2006. Do you live in Oklahoma?
The best thing you can do right now is call the dealer Monday morning and remind them not to detail/ prep your brand new car. If it is already on the lot be prepared for some swirls in that pretty black paint.

Pick up some wash buckets from Home depot. You'll save yourself some $.
 
Many people seem to like the Duragloss rinseless wash with aquawax. Might be able to find it locally at carquest. For clay, you can get meguiars or griot's locally.

I would definitely recommend the MF towels at Microfibertech.com. Get the 530gsm blue ones. $30ish plus shipping for 10 pack.

Blackfire midnight sun paste wax is awesome stuff. Get a 3 oz. jar...it will last you longer than you think. I would recommend you at least polish between clay and wax. A random orbital is a good investment.

New Honda accord clear is very thin and soft and you will be very prone to rock chips. I've seen lots of recommendations from other 13 accord owners to put on opti-coat to add a little extra hardness.

Also, join driveaccord.net if you aren't already a member. There is a detailing section there with a lot of good info on detailing products that Honda owners have had good luck with.

Oh, and for spray bottles, home depot sells them for a couple bucks. Lowes has them too, but I have found the triggers don't last long. 32 oz.

Yeah I grew up in OKC, went to OU (grad. with Petroleum Geology degree in May '12) and now live back in NW OKC/Piedmont.

Someone actually just mentioned that same thing about making sure they don't wash it on another forum lol. I'm definitely calling Monday morning to tell them!

Thanks for the tip on the buckets too. I'll check out HD down the road and pick a few up.

Duragloss Rinseless Wash w/ Aquawax over UWW+Conc.? Never heard of Carquest. Looks like there's one about 15-20 mins away so I'll check it out. The 10pack of towels should be enough don't you think? They're just exterior wash/QD/interior towels.

I'll have a look at Opti-Coat and BF Midnight Sun paste wax. Thanks!

Yeah I'm over there as of early this month. SN over there is OUSOONER2 also.

About the bottles, that was my worry. Sometimes the cheaper ones seem to fall apart quickly and won't spray. Wasn't sure if the ones on here were really THAT much better.

Is there a sealant that's not quite as expensive as BFWD All-Finish Paint Protection or the BlackICE stuff, but near as good? If the BFWDAFPP works great as a sealant then I'll go with it, but hopefully it'll last more than 3-4 times. I never know how much to put on there lol so it's getting enough, but not too much.

Yes, Menzerna Power Lock is another great sealant. If you need a sample of either that or BFWDAFPP, let me know.
 
The best/cheap sealant is DG #111 as its a pure sealant, so I'd use that as the LSP but before hand you'll wanna clay and then use a good cleaner type of product, once again I suggest a DG product, #501. To make both #501 and #111 work their best would be adding some DG #601 to the mix of both of them, 4:1 ratio (4 parts main product, 1 part #601)

UWW(Ultimate Wash Wax) This comes in a gallon size called Meguiar's Shampoo Plus. You can get this from Amazon for $15 from the same company.

Quick Detailer: meguiars last touch or Chemical guys Luber.






Wax/Sealant
If I was doing this by hand, I would go with a cleaner wax. At least you will get some cleaning done while protecting it. Try Meguiars Black or White Wax.

Tire Shine
I just use endurance Tire Shine. Pick up some disposable gloves so you wont have oil all over your self.

Microfibers

Autogeek has some nice microfiber towels. MOst good microfibers are around the same price.

Interior

I would pick these up at a local big box store along with your car wash buckets.




I would add grit guards to your order to help prevent the wash mitt from sitting on dirt.

Chemical Guys Blacklight is an exceptional product for Black Cars and I swear by it. It is also very easy on/off for hand application.

I also really like their Silk Shine Interior Detailer and can be used as a tire dressing too, so like getting two products in one. CG V-7 by the gallon is a bargain too for a detail spray. Those three products would get you started and for your wifes car you could go with CG M-Seal.

The thing about the Carnauba waxes on a daily driver is they just don't hold up. Their great for garage queens and show cars. The Blacklight will shine like no tomorrow and give you great protection. It's one of the best AIO's out there for darker colored cars.

This is Blacklight with a coat of Pinnacle Souveran on top on my Genesis Coupe and one coat on my ten year old Xterra, nothing else on top.



 
I've seen a lot of people that are happy with Blacklight. So you can put CG Blacklight down and then Menzerna PL on top of it to seal it. Then QD with V7 for a little extra protection and clean up when needed until it needs a wash? I'm seeing varying results about v7. Can be used as a QD. Can't be used as a QD. Expensive for QD & that UWW+ is better and a lot cheaper, etc. I'll likely try Blacklight and Menzerna PL first. QD with UWW+ and see how it goes. If I don't like it or if I can get a sample of V7 then I'll see what I think of each.


Whats a good budget car wash that wont strip this stuff? I've got a good MF mitt from MF Tech. Picking up a few buckets from HD today. I have some Sprayway or something glass cleaner that comes out as a foam. Is there a better glass cleaner? I'm sure there's one out there that's cheaper and you get a ton more than something commercialized.
 
what I like about the V7 is that there is no ghosting wipes off very clean I used Wolfgang deep gloss paint sealant and am very happy with it

Also picked up 4 bottles of Stoners Invisible Glass from Amazon (cheap at $3.50/ea). From MF-Tech I purchased 10pk of 16x16 blue towels, (2) 4-packs of mf applicator pads (for applying PERL inside & the polishes/waxes) and their MF cuffless wash mitt.

I probably still need a good car wash that won't strip the Blacklight or Menzerna and a bucket, but I'll pick that up at HD tonight. I've got a tire applicator for the PERL.

...I think that might be it! Im the MAN All in for $175ish. Not too shabby
