Help pick two coatings

Hello,

I will be coating my brothers black grand caravan in a few weeks. I have been very happy with mckees and wolfgang coatings but want to try something else but can’t decide what to use. I’m also thinking of doing a coating on each side of the car to compare different coatings. So I need some suggestions on what to get.

CQuartz 3.0 should be one of them and maybe GTechniq.

Hello,

I am looking for durability 18-24 months. I would prefer the a easier to apply coating but don’t mind something a little more difficult if it has good gloss. Since this is not my car I would like something that doesn’t need to be topped.

CQUK is SiO2 and has the higher rating for hardness to increase durability. Cquartz TiO2 contains TiO2 for more refelectivity. This has more stain resistance and slicker than CQUK. Don't buy too much into the hardness rating.

No coating needs to be topped. That is all personal preference.

These are what I would I consider

CQUK 3.0 - top performer for the price.
CQ Tio2 - has hung side by side with CQUK 3.0 on my personal car for 19 months now
Adams UV - I am in the process of testing it against other coatings but it leaves the surface slick.

Runners up:
Jade Quartz - A bit harder to initially wipe off but a nice slick feeling. Currently testing durability. This manufacturer blends the Adams UV coating and this has similarities to Adams other than no UV characteristic.
Jade Ice - easier to wipe off and feels close to Jade quartz. Currently testing durability.

Not if the op is looking for durability. Optimum is easy to use but lacks in durability.

What happened to the original Opti Coat that some claimed lasted for 5 years with no topping?

That was 5 years ago. Gloss Coat is not the same. Optimum still claims no topping yet they have a maintenance line.

Not false information. It’s based on experience as I’ve used both coatings. Cquartz > Gloss Coat.

As far as I recall you have not ventured into coatings. If you have then please post your feedback.

How's the ease of use for CQ Tio2? Much more gloss then CQUK 3? thanks
 
I use and have used both CQuartz UK 3.0 and Optimum Opti-Gloss. I would say that Opti-Gloss is more pleasant to work with because it doesn't have that extremely strong chemical odor. From a performance perspective, my CQuartz UK 3.0 installation is too new to see what durability will be but I will say it does shine and clean easy. I will be using Car Pro reload on my my C43 to maintain the Cquartz UK 3.0 w Gliss 2.0 application.

With Optimum, it lasted me over 1 year on a car that is exclusively outdoors in all kinds of conditions. On a garage kept car i'm sure it would have lasted longer. I maintained it w optimum opti-seal which is one of my all time favorite products. You can use it on anything. Even after the opti-gloss wore off, I continued to use Opti-Seal because I liked it that much. I think Optimum is a little less complicated from an application perspective.

That said, the easiest and absolutely most pleasant coating to apply for me has been Polish Angel Viking Coat. Goes on differently, almost like a wax, and wipes off easy. You don't have to worry at all about flash times and it has tons of gloss. My vote goes w Polish Angel.

EDIT***
Forgot to mention, Polish Angel on my garage kept 350z looks amazing and is going on 2 years. Polish Angel on my GLE43 which is an outdoor car didn't even last 1 year. Looked good but didn't last long for me.

TiO2 won't feel tacky when it is being wiped off. A majority of the gloss will come from polishing. If it's a light colored paint (white, silver) then you won't notice a difference. On black the reflectivity is definitely different between the two.
 
I have liked my CQUK3, its been on for over a year and still going strong.


Three new ones that popped up and look promising are the new 3D ceramic resin coating, Poor Boys worlds and Adam’s...

Where's your location if i might ask? and maintenance? I finally pulled the trigger on CQUK3.
