Help removing solidified sap

I have a detail business and I need to be fast and it would be nice to save my hands a bit. I will try the towel trick.

I haven't tried this, but since it sounds like hot water will soften it; why not try a blow dryer (or a heat gun if you have one) to expedite the heating process... You obviously don't want to burn the paint if you're using a heat gun, but with some common sense it might help.

Good luck, and post up which method worked the best.

A couple ideas for bugs and sap...

Some of the ideas I have ran across in my travels...
(I am not endorsing any of them)

#1
59. Tip: Apply a small dab of "pre-wax cleaner" to the bug splat. 60. Cover the spot with a wadded-up tissue and let it sit for a few minutes. 61. Then pinch up the mess.

#2Try rubbing the offending area with WD-40. Spray some on the sap, let it sit for a while and wipe off

#3Mayonnaise

#4Mineral spirits with denatured alcohol

#5 For glass to remove bugs from windshield, car paint, side mirrors, etc., wet one or more fabric softener sheets and apply to bug splats, wait a couple minutes and rinse with water. Tough splats may require a little more attention but this works like miracle. Also removes road tar

Well, since the OP hasn't gotten back yet, I'll write out my results:

I have used the 70% IPA reduced with a little water. I soak it into a cotton ball and leave it on the sap. Then get a wet micofiber and try to buff it out. You might have to do it a few times

Winner!! I used a cotton swab with 91% alcohol, no dilution. I did this and left it on for about an hour.

I also hear that rubbing alcohol works. I have not tried it yet but I hear you just rub it on and it eats the sap and wipe off

This is exactly what happened to it, using the above method. 6 months of dried sap was basically eaten by the alcohol.

The best way I have found to remove the glue like hard sap is laquer thinner. use you hand with a rubber glove. Rub on the sap until it breaks down. Apply wax afterwards. Xylene will also work. All the rags are trashed.
