So I am about to make a purchase and can't decide on which leather coating to get.

My In-Laws have a Volvo V70XC with light beige leather seats and have dye transfer issues. What coating would you recommend?

I want something with good longevity and ease of use. I will be cleaning them and putting the initial coat on. They will be maintaining the seats there after. So ease of use is more necessary than longevity.

Thanks,
Kevin

man now I wish I could help with that.if its not sealed leather it can be hit or miss. I like VOODOO leather treatment by surf city,, but I have sealed seats,, what ever you get, remember to test it in a small unseen area first. also it will most likely make things a tad darker. least thats how I have seen a lot of leather go.

The seats were originally sealed I believe. It was bought used and the dealer had them re-dyed. So I am not sure what will work with cleaning yet. I do have some Leather Masters dye transfer cleaner in the cart. I am going to try a regular leather cleaner, then APC, then the dye cleaner. All will be used on a small portion that is hidden under the seat first to test how the re-dye job will react. They are not really worried about them darkening just about getting them clean. If it doesn't get clean they are putting seat covers on them. I just want to find a good coating to protect from further issues

give the voodoo a shot,, i love how it works on my toyota seats. and its only 7 or 8 bucks

I will look into it never really used any of their products, all my OTC stuff has been Megs and a little Mothers. I know Megs now has a kit, but I was never a fan of their GoldClass Leather line.

I had opti guard applied to my leather. It has withstood dye transfer and wipes clean with a hot towel. Leather was pretty new when applied so not sure how much that has to do with it.

Opti guard would be great if it was available to the general public. I am a very much DIY and cant see paying someone to do something I can do it right my self.

I've had good results using the Leather Masters Protection Cream. Using it on cream and black Lexus leather and gray Acura leather for years.
