Hello, I've been using this forum for great information since I started detailing cars on the side 2 years ago and I love this site and all of the information! I've pored over this site for hundreds of hours, however yesterday opportunity presented itself to me and it's something that I needed to make an account and ask a question about.

So pretty much, this is what it is- I have someone who is interested in me cleaning and degreasing 30 dump trucks bi-monthly and he is interested in having a monthly account with me. Only problem is, I've never degreaser a dump truck nor do I have any idea what to charge/the labor involved in that! I figure I'd hire a person or 2 to help out/take over the whole thing eventually after we get the system down pat. Anyway, my question is do you guys have any idea on what to charge or the labor involved? The product/tools to use? This is something completely new to me and I've been researching as much as I could on Google but this is something that's better to ask the experts about. This is also something I definitely don't want to turn down or botch! Please let me know any great or helpful information you guys have :) thank you!

sounds like an hourly job. The condition of those trucks can vary week to week.

Welcome to autogeek....I see you got a big offer there I would charge it by the foot as for the detail process I would use a boars hair wash brush( soak 30 mins before use) chemical guys citrus wash and clear( two bucket sash method) , clay bar eraser and carpro hydrO2 as for the wheels and tires I would use all purpose cleaner and chemical guys new car shine water based dressing.... just my eight cents hope it help

Do they just want clean, or do they really want a detail-type wash? If it's the former, I'd think a gas pressure wash would be the way to go.

@ninja- well it is my friend and I with this side business, so it would be the both of us. I'd like to figure out how to hire maybe 2 people to work with us for now (I'd have to figure out a pay structure and what not which poses another question- how do you guys pay your helpers/hire steady people? I'd like this to eventually be a thing where I have 2-4 people taking care of this every other week so we're making money on this while at the same time my partner and I do plenty of regular details).

Thank you everyone for the responses so far. However whether its hourly, by the foot, per truck, whatever it turns out to be- in what range do you guys think this should be? It's not going to be a detail per say, just a wash and degreasing on I assume the engine and some frame or something. I had asked someone and he recommended around $30 per truck per wash/degrease. Since this guy is doing 30 trucks twice a month, is $30 feasible in your opinion or does say $15 or $50 sound better? I just don't know where to go with this yet, however I'll keep doing my research and keep waiting on good answers from you guys! Thanks again.

This sounds like you will need a heavy-duty Hot water pressure washer and something like the Freedom Foamer, which is a supercharged version of a foam cannon.

He said..."DUMP TRUCKS"

You either need a hot water pressure washer or a pro grade steamer like the Optima I just got.

As for how much to charge, it would be helpful if you could post a pic of one of them.
