I'm using a 5" backing plate. I understand that I should get 6 correction and 4 polish and 1 for wax minimum.
But they have a lot of pads that overlap each other can u guys recommend which I should get trying to keep costs at a minimum.

I was gonna get one grey to do some bad spots ?
Orange
White
Black
Red.
Which shall I get for compound. Polish . Wax. Seems like a couple of them overlap each other...

thx!

Sure. I use the LC ThinPro's almost exclusively on my GG6's. I own grey, orange, white and black. I do not own the red because (a) I more times than not apply waxes/sealants by hand and (b) the black pad is a little firmer than the red and finishes out amazingly well.

As for the ones I own -> grey is a VERY VERY firm pad - and to be used on only the most neglected paint, and will require you to finish down with an orange or white pad. By far the most used pad for me is the orange. It is a great to use for compounds, polishes and AIO's. With compounds, it has very substantial defect removal capabilities, and with polishes and AIO's, it finishes down very nicely - and in most cases doesn't require a white or black to finish down. I use white strictly for polishing and AIO's where the paint correction needs are minimal (e.g. light swirls) and finally the black pad for sealants.

If you are going to get (12) pads, may I suggest the following which will cover 99% of cases:
(2) grey
(6) orange
(3) white
(1) black

...and yes pads can overlap and this depends on what you are trying to accomplish and what products you are using. There are no hard set rules. Example: Orange is advertised as the heavy polishing pad but when paired with Griot's Finishing Sealant or McKees 37 360, you can do a nice one-step job. Likewise white can be used as a light polishing pad with say Griot's Perfecting Crème or McKees 37 Fast Polish provided you intended to apply a sealant or wax afterwards.
