Help with order of things...

Hey guys.
Just got a new car. It's bright red.
I don't go crazy with detailing usually. My process typically includes a thorough wash with meguiars, meguiars cleaner wax, and then collinite.

With this car I'd like to get a little more involved.
Here is what I'm thinking:

Clay, then cleaner wax, then polish, then collinite.

Would this be the correct order? Do I need the polish step?

That's redundant steps. The polish is going to take off the wax left behind by the cleaner wax, plus the "cleaner" part is doing the same thing as the polish.

Is this car brand new? Does it need to be polished? Frequently new cars have surface contamination from transit and sitting on the dealer lot. Frequently they are also swirled from being brushed against when they are dirty, or from very careful dealer wash practices.

So what is the history/condition of the vehicle?

Most important thing is to start by washing and drying the car and then inspect the paint in bright sunshine for swirls, water spots and scratches.

Also do the Baggie Test to see if there are contaminants on the paint that need to be removed.

"Yes" even a brand new car can have all of the above.
