I just purchased a brand new Black 2014 Nissan GT-R, and would like recommendations on which pads to use on my new Rupes 21es. The car has light swirls and holograms from the dealer.

I will either be using Menzerna SF2500 as a single step or fg400/sf4000 as a 2 step if needed. I would prefer to only have to purchase 2 different kinds of pads, and buy multiples of each.

I have both the 5" and 6" backing plates for the Rupes, so whichever you all feel would be easier on this car. Thanks!

Nice ride! My suggestion would be that you should have all Rupes pads on hand for future needs. That way you'll be able to correct as well as polish if need be. :-)

Awesome car and good choice on the compounds/polishes.

FG400 on a Meguiar's Microfiber pad if the paint is hammered, otherwise use an Orange stiff pad. Followed by SF2500 on a Buff n Shine Green if the paint feels hard, blue if it is soft.

Thanks! I'm thinking LC 5.5" flat Orange and White pads, and get like 6 of each.

Are Rupes pads outside of budget? I would think the Rupes system works best with their pads. I have no experience with them however.

LC Orange, white, and black.
Menz FG 400 /4500
PBL Diamond Paint Sealant
and if you're into it Blackfire Black Ice on top.
You'll also be needing some sort of da polisher to use 3" or 4" pads to get the tight areas, narrow curves and pillars.

I can do Rupes pads, but I would like to stick with the Menzerna polishes.

Thanks, how many of each pad would you recommend?
I'll be using Opti-coat 2.0 as a LSP.
I have a PC7424xp with 3" backing plate and some 4" LC pads for the hard to reach areas.

Rupes pads and polishes work fantastic with a Rupes machine. Its an easy system based process. Having said that, if you don't want Rupes pads, go with hydrotech pads, I have had good luck with them with Menz 2500. AG has some pretty good kits for Menz, I think they even have a kit with HT pads:

Wolfgang Rupes LHR 15ES Ultimate Polishing Kit

Maybe use the wolfgang products on something else in the house.

Then for Menz if you don't need a sealant and want something that runs the full cut range go with this:

Menzerna Power Gloss, Power Finish & Super Finish Bundle, Menzerna Polishes Combo, Nano Polish, Power Finish Polish, Power Gloss Compound

If your looking to use the Menz sealant and don't need a full cutting range, go with this:

Menzerna Power Finish & Super Finish Bundle, Menzerna Polishing Compounds, Menzerna PO203 & PO106FA, car polishes

Missed your last post, I would say 3 of the cutting pads and two finishing. They come in three pads if you go with HT pads so 3-3-3 is how I order!

I ended up ordering 6 Orange, 6 White, and 3 black of the 5.5" LC Flat pads. I also ordered some Menzerna 4500. I already have some new hydro-tech pads in case I don't like the flat pads, but from the reviews i've seen on here of the Menz products if looks like they will work great!
