I was asked to set up a table or tent at a local car show and i need some ideas on what i should display to show what i can do.

I was thinking about a panel showing before and after of a 2 step process and maybe a wheel showing the same. Of course going to have brochures and business cards offered maybe with a discount.

This will be my first display so any and all help will be welcomed.

Thanks for your time

Chris

Got rooom for a car? Show before on one side and after on the other. Interior, too. If not, how about a scaled down, toy car. You could probably scuff it up, do a watermark wash job, and then do a nice detail to half of the exterior.

how about a 50/50 on a black hood from the junkyard?

Just as effective and easier to work with than a whole car imo.

maybe put some arrows on the before side to highlight things like water spots, swirls, RIDS, transfer, holograms, and dents.

Might be a chance to educate people about the kinds of things going on with their paint and what can and cannot be removed with a correction.

That's why you are the Senior Member and I am the newb. Thanks.

The junk hood is an excellent idea, Tape off areas like before and afters I would do 3 sections
After a wash (To show the difference between a wash and a proper detail job)
After a polish
After a correction and polish?
Maybe a light (depending on what time it's held)to really point out the swirls..

Pen and paper to take some #'s down for call backs.

Its a 10ft wide space. was thinking maybe a truck tail gate as its smaller then a hood. But we are on the same page which is what was hoping. I do like the idea of point the different problem areas out and show what damage cant get removed

was going to get a tent but figured having the sun blaze down and show everything would be a better option.

What do you think about some display products that get used?

Great start, any more ideas guys?

A panel to show before and after claying is great too since people love being able to touch things and feel a difference. I would say a tent/canopy is a must if it's going to be warm outside. You can always move the panels into the sun to show sun shots if needed.

Also having a cooler full of water and soda is a good idea. Put some on your table and people will come over just for the water, and hopefully stay for the information. If it's a family type show you could also have a big bowl of candy for the kids. Kids will drag their parents over to get the free candy and you can give them your presentation.

Also you could offer a raffle of some sort, like for a coupon for 50% off a full detail, or a free interior detail with the purchase of an exterior detail. Then you can get a whole bunch of emails and phone numbers from people. Just a few thoughts.

you can have products there but I'd have empty bottles lest they go walking if you know what I mean...

Set up one of those digital picture frames that plays slideshows of your
work

i taped off one half of my hood, took out the crazy orange peel and swirls. then at a car meet, i taped two signs on my windshield. one on the side that i corrected that said "polished", and another sign on the uncorrected side that said "not polished." i also had a table set up with a little display board that i made. i put a few before and after pics of a headlight restoration, a paint correction, and some other pics along with a little list of services. i also had business cards in a card holder.

definately got some interest, well see if it brings in any customers:P

I've not done this, but i read it somewhere (maybe AG) and thought it was brilliant. there was some criticism though from other forum members.

you do the raffle for a free detail (or half off) with the understanding there are 2-3 runner up prizes for 10% off

when the show is over, you pick your winner for the free detail. Then EVERY other person who enters the raffle, you contact them and let them know they are the runner up winner for 10% off. So everyone thinks they won something, and should take advantage of the savings.

the idea is the runner up winners will be more likely to book a job if they're under the assumption that they are one of the chosen few to receive the savings

:iagree:

Book appointments on the spot for sure. I used to be a College Recruiter for a for-profit University, and when we had a table or booth at fairs, we would always be the only ones standing out in front of the table, pulling the leads into us, conversing with them and scheduling appointments on the spot, where the other schools would just be sitting behind their tables looking bored, giving out pens and brochures, and not engaging anyone.

Building any business is sales. Try working on a question to ask passerby's to hopefully get them engaged in what you have to offer, so you can provide a WIIFM (whats in it for me) to them. Maybe something like "Do you have swirls in your paint that you've wanted out?" or if you have a demonstration set-up "Would you like to see how swirls or scratches can be taken out of your paint?"
You guys can probably think of better questions to spark people's interests, but this was just for example.
You may or may not need to be this aggressive, depending on the setting and what attention you're competing with.
A prize wheel with a clicker also attracts a lot of attention, especially people with children. Maybe a little cheesy in this situation, but again it depends on what other attention you're competing with.
LOVE the raffle idea, and calling everyone with 10% off though!!! :xyxthumbs:
