I have a couple of questions that may seem stupid to you...
Is there a such thing as waxing too much? Meaning weekly. My wife thinks Im crazy but thats what I do every saturday . Also what other wax out there would you recommend that would compare with soveran? I love soveran but I was just curios as to what was out there in terms of ease of appl and removal. And also the shine...Not really looking to spend more then 100 doll. Note: I am very happy with the soveran, just want to experiment with something else...

Well wax doesnt correct, so its not like you're removing clear coat. However, I dont think Id apply the wax unless needed. If the shine still looks good, and the water is still beading, then whats the point in waxing it?

I hope Souveran lasts more then a week!

I've noticed if I wax too often I'll get a build up of wax which reduces clarity. I usually stick to one (sometimes 2) coats of wax and only re-apply when water beading begins to diminish. Depending on the wax and environment, usually 4 - 8 weeks.

Souveran's a great looking, easy to apply/remove wax. I find it looks best on solid darks. There are many other nice nubas and sealants that I use for different colors.

Well the truck is black with a gold flake...I only used klasse sealant glaze and It was to reflective with no depth...Dont get me wrong, I have no problems with soveran. Just trying to see other options that equally compare with it.

Waxing once a week is kinda pointless, but if thats what you want do its your choice. More then once a month and your just building a layer that reduces clarity and depth. Heck I'll go months on a sealant/wax combo and use a good qd'er weekly. Though with the damn drought down here I haven't been able to do much and wwant to strip down and start over badly.

Adding an additional coat of wax every week or two is hard work for very little addtl benefit. Why not move to something like the Souveran Spray Wax booster instead. Then spend a little more time with the spouse !!

Depending on the color of your car, I doubt you will find something more valuable than Souveran paste for the money. If lighter color, maybe consider Nattys Blue, Sig Series II, or DpWaxWax.

A question on the same note; what would be a good way to maintain?

Lets say I polish/seal/wax the car, and a couple of weeks later I want to reapply.
What do I do? Just wax only? or seal then wax again?

And the spray wax is okay to use over carnuba wax for a boost?

Thanks killer,

yes, a simple wash to make sure there is nothing on the paint. Then apply the seconed coat. polishing or claying CAN remove the previous layer so it is not need, it is actully counter productive

As for waxes

for under 100 bucks there are lots

Zymol- hand crafted line
Victoria wax- my all time fav.
malms (i think its around 100, but not sure)
there are a few chemical guys waxes

there are also plently from AG
such as sig series II
max wax
p21s (this gets great reviews)

i have not included all the wax outther but a few you might be inrerstd in

So DO NOT glaze/seal again?

I thought the seal and glaze were the same thing? on my Mother's it says "seal/glaze"
When you say "seal" I am figuring that you mean "apply another layer of wax"

this is the problem with detailing. there are no standard terms.

I was refering to:

Seal - either a wax or sealent
sealent- a synthtic paint protector,
wax- well we all know wax
glaze- oild used to deapen or ehance the look of the paint, provides no protection

hope this clears some stuff up

heres what I have, whats the process....

XMT glaze
Souveran Wax
Opti seal
XMT 1-4
XMT 360
Mothers pre cleaner

Boost with a spray or look into something like PB's wash and wax or DP's Rinseless.

IMO, I wouldnt use all of those things on the same car.

XMT 1-4 (can be substituted for XMT 360 if car has minor swirls)
Rewash
Opti seal- take note of curing times
Souveran Wax

Or if you dont want to use the seal.

XMT 1-4 (can be substituted for XMT 360 if car has minor swirls)
XMT Glaze
Souveran Wax

The glaze really is an optional step.

Why the rewash? would a whip down work as well?

Probably not. You arent supposed to put Carnauba under most sealants. Rewash is to get rid of oils on the paint so the sealant will bond better. You could do the alcohol wipe down instead.
