Help with white cars

I recently purchased a white honda. I have only worked on dark colored cars, does anyone know where I can find some hints or tips for polishing white cars? What products work best on the white cars?

That seems like all I've been working on lately. The one that always amazes me is DG #105. Anyway, below are alot of great ideas from others too. Hope they chime in with their latest secrets on white.

Ah thanks, How do you keep track of where you have polished since most polishes are white? I have the DG 101 and 105 I was gonna top that with IW 845 then AW. I ma trying to figure out if the Menernza IP is gonna be too much for the soft Honda clear. I have read that white cars are tougher to correct because thet are white?

Having the right lighting makes a big difference when polishing and waxing a white car. A lot of times you need to have the lighting at the right angles and look at the car a certain angles to see what you are doing and what needs to be done. White paint is always harder to see what you are doing on. I love Liquid Souveran (orginal not the new spray) on white.

I've used DG 105 and Pinnacle Liquid Souveran and white with good results. I've read that Finish Kare Pink Wax is great on white as well. I prefer the liquid glossy look on white.

I used 360 on a white expedition and it did good... you best bet is to take it slow and run your buffer likd your cutting grass, in lines. then when ur done buff off the same way. take it out in the sun and mark with tape where you missed and pull it back in

Great advice thanks guys and some great looking white cars, gives my Accord hope as of now it has no reflection even in direct sunlight.

Do expect much reflection in direct sunlight, white washes out with plenty of light (reflects all colors). Dusk and dawn is where white shows itself mid day it's just an intesnse/blinding white (depending on white).

DG 105 is a must for white cars, I use it on a regular basis and top it with Pinn Souveran. Polishing is a somewhat hard on white, you can try to use a halogen light but don't put it close to the paint, you will just wind up blinding yourself. I was using Menzerna for a while and found it to be the only thing that worked for me, but I just started to use Optimum polishes, these are probablymy favorite polishes. I still use all the same techniques that everyone else uses when polishing, it just takes a littel longer to make sure all the swirls are gone.

I love a good paste wax on white, Souveran, Natty's Blue, CG 5050 etc. I like the deeper, darker hue that white takes on. I threw a quick coat of Nattys Blue on a few weeks ago after quick strip down. Just gives the white a warmer glow compared to a bright sealant. I'd like to try DG #105 though topped witha good wax.

I think I am just gonna have to do a few test spots 1 with the OPT and one with IP.

Light coloured paint:
Lighter colour paints (i.e. Silver, White, etc (the exception is speed yellow) will never obtain jetting (the so called ‘wet-look’) of black or dark colours as they do not exhibit visible depth, light colours tends to reflect light instead of absorbing and providing a 2-dimensional effect. If you apply a coating on top of white it will usually produce refraction and provide depth. You can obtain a good gloss provided the paint is good quality and if it’s prepared and detailed correctly;

The final result can only be as good as the surface it’s applied to. It really is all dependants upon; 85% preparation, 5% product, 7% application method and the balance is in the ‘guy’ of the beholder. (A detailer’s skill level is also extremely important)

Surface preparation – for optimal results the surface of a light coloured paint to show gloss is very much dependant upon good / excellent paint condition, adequately prepped to remove contaminants and minor imperfections. Washed, cleaned, polished and a polymer sealant or a Carnauba wax added

Products- (Zaino, Klasse AIO and SG, Jeffswerkstatt - Acrylic Jett) these sealants will provide a flat silvery-white shine, but without ‘depth’. By adding Zaino Clear Seal (Z-CS) or a Carnauba wax as an LSP (Pinnacle Souverän Paste Carnauba or Autoglym Super Resin Polish) the oils that are formulated in the Carnauba waxes provide a reflective gloss, which causes jetting (a ‘wetting’ of the surface) Detailer’s clay (Sonus SFX Ultra-Fine Detailing Clay Bar) and / or Paint cleaner (Zaino PC or Klasse AIO) should be a regular part of the preparation process.
