So I used a friends vehicle to test my PC out. Her hood was what looked oxidized so I used XMT 360 and the Orange LC pad didn't work so well so I used Meguiars ultimate compound and seemed to work better. Did a little more than half the hood first pic then moved to the other side and no dice... Did not shine regardless of what I did. The rest of the vehicle was fine and shined up nicely, just the hood gave me hell.... When I explained to her that I could not figure it out she tells me that the hood has been replace... Hmmmm might have something to do with it. Couldn't figure out where to post this... Sorry if it's not the right place...
 
I know the picture is hard to see. When I started there was a flat black looking film on the hood and after I began buffing it got rid of the black and turned white.
 
Perhaps they did some blending on the hood and either half of it is oversprayed or the blended side has failed (or the unblended has failed).
 
That is what I was thinking she said she is planning on having it repainted. Just want to make sure I didn't miss something.
 
It's hard to tell from your picture, "blending" is when they spray part of a panel, so it's possible that whatever was done to the car they sprayed ~half the hood, not sure whether the "bad" half is the part that was sprayed or not sprayed, or it could just be overspray, or it could be something completely different...so yes, you could have "missed" something.
 
maybe the CC is starting to fail? Looks rough for sure!
 
looks to me as if parts are either failing or poorly blended when resprayed. you can see the clear start to fail when it starts to form rings all over dry paint
 
This one was a challenge but fun... She live on a dirt road and this thing had more dents and scratches so I wanted to see how much better I could make it look with the pc
