I'm so pissed at my husband right now....
Apparently he sprayed a bunch of bits of his Jeep suspension last night in the garage with the doors open "to help ventilate" the garage. he used black Rustoleom.
He didn't bother to move my car OUT OF THE GARAGE!

So now, my car feels like sand paper.
I have over spray ALL OVER IT :mad::mad::mad::mad:

PLEASE help. How do I get it off?
Yes, my car has wax on it.

Ugh...

Sorry to hear this.

I believe I would start with clay and see what happens. You will likely have to re-LSP

I am sorry to hear the bad news you have to try clay barring the vehicle to see if that will help

ouch, sorry to hear that! Clay should take care of any over spray.

I was planning on doing a full spring cleaning in a few weeks...

Clay, IronX, correction, polish, LSP

Looks like I'm moving this up to IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks guys.

You might want to kill the husband too<g>!

<TED>

First put him on the couch for a month lol. Then try clay and youre going to need a lot of it. If that doesnt work you could rub down with something like paint thinner (not paint thinner but i forget what the actual product is im sure some one will cue in on this) Its going to need to be polished afterwards to remove the over spray that wasnt removed and if using something LIKE a paint thinner polish will be needed to bring the paint back to life.

Man sorry to hear that. I believe clay barring your car or Nanoskin bar should take care of that. However, I believe you should have your Husband do that under your supervision. If he gets whiny and complains, just smack him!!!!......Give him a WELL DESERVED SMACKING!!!

Let him sleep in the Dog House too!!!!!

LOL
Im the MAN

LOL- I'm actually taking the morning off tomorrow so I can at least clay the car. I want to get the majority of the overspray off asap.

I can leave it in the garage and take my truck to work until I can finish the other steps.

Funny, my husband is a pretty smart guy... no idea why he had a brain fart on this... and the fact that he said he opened the doors so their WOULDN'T be any overspray leads me to believe he doesn't have a firm grasp of physics

Dont you want to ironx before claying?

I had something similar happen to my Z. I had to use a pretty agressive clay which resulted in marring, which resulted in me having to recorrect the entire car. But its back to as it was.

Just shoot him somewhere non life threatening :)

lol! Yeah Im sure a clay bar or 9 will take it off. Sorry to hear this

google "Jeff Suggs overspray removal" and do the exact opposite. :)

Ok.....

So thank goodness I work at a company that is full of car guys.
I told my supervisor what happened. He told me to go home and clay my car.

Yeah, that really happened :dblthumb2: I love my company.

Car is clayed. I got the overspray off. I used Megs white clay and an ONR solution for lube... Worked awesome :dblthumb2:

VERY minimal marring from the clay. I'm gonna hit the car with M205 to take care of that and then use SON1C's ProtoWax 93 sample I got from Drew :dblthumb2:

Sorry to hear of the mishap but happy to hear you removed the overspray paint.

One thing for sure, I'll bet your husband will be more proactive in the future to do something like cover your car with a plastic drop cloth, ($4.00), or an old bed sheet, or park it down the road at a buddy's house.

Just to note, all of my life when talking about the topic of overspray paint I always tell people the two most common places to get overspray paint on your car are,

While your car is at a body shop because there's overspray paint in the air.
If you car is in the paint booth or even out of the paint boot but has not yet been returned to you then there's a good chance it's going to get overspray paint on it just from the paint being sprayed inside or outside of the booth drifting in the air.

At home in your garage.
"Car Guys", (or Jeep guys), and "Car Girls" are very likely candidates to use some rattle can paint to paint a car part their working on and thus odds are better for them to get overspray on their car than non-car guys and non-car girls.

:D

I get just about all of my overspray jobs from contractors painting buildings. Typically there are so many cars in a lot the contractor doesn't even bother covering any of them. Many(smart) contractors actually factor in the cost of having to remove overspray from X amount of cars when they bid on the job

Glad you got yours taken care of Mrs Kitty. Rattle can paint is the easiest of easy paint to remove. Give your husband some slack

I'm pretty sure that is grounds for divorce! There's not much else that can be done but that!
