Hey guys,

I'm not even sure what type of material this is, a type of cloth? It looks like the same as the kind used on the seats. It's in a 13 fiat 500 pop

My elbow keeps making marks in this spot!

It looks like a coated or laminated fabric because of the sheen from the picture. Perhaps the bare thread was treated before the actually fabric was manufactured. Does you car have leather or fabric?
I'm guessing you want to clean it. Optimum Power Clean has a good rep for getting marks out of interior surfaces including leather.

As Mike also suggested, Optimum Power Clean is one of my personal favorites. I have experienced no staining/discoloration on any interior surface I've used it on, and it's cleaning power still amazes me. If you have reservations about using an APC, Blackfire Interior Cleaner is also a great product, and it's so safe that if you can clean the surface with just water, you can clean it with BFIC. It really cuts through the dirt and grime as well.

As an update, it's a fabric of some sort. The threads are very easily felt. The picture is misleading. It appears to be the same fabric used for the seats. Some type of polyester

What type of coating would you guys suggest? Something like 303 aerospace protectant or Wolfgang cockpit trim sealant? I'm new to this whole detailing thing lol. Thanks :)

If you want something that's going to ask quite a long time, I would go with the Carpro CQuartz fabric/leather protectant, it's extremely hydrophobic and should guard against dirt/discoloration quite well. It's a bit more expensive, but you pay for an amazing product, and you won't have to coat again for quite awhile. Check out the reviews on this site, they can tell the tale better than I.

That's the coating I was thinking of for this type of material...

Obviously, Mike is the true expert but... maybe try Folex and then 303. Folex is cheap (Lowes\Home Depot), mild, and works on lots of fabric issues. 303 is just great for interiors.

I had a fabrice like that in my 2009 Compass on the seats. I can't remeber what Chrysler called it at this moment but it was supposed to be stain resistant and it would make white spots if I would drive and put my hand down on the passenger seat. The fellow that does interior repair at the dealership I work at said it was a corn based product so I figured that's why it would turn with if you moved it around. It would look like powder. Oh I think it was called YES esentials now that I'm thinking about it. Anyone have any experience with that fabric?
