My buddy Dan has a pretty nice white 99 SS Camaro. He tries to keep it pretty clean by washing/waxing it. A few weeks ago I saw the car at night and thought to myself "Oh boy!" this this needs some loving! LOL. He has been going through a little rough patch with his job and life lately so I told him when I had some free time to bring it on over and I would give it a good going over for lunch one day.

Fast forward to Saturday morning. The Camaro arrived and was a little bit dirty but I knew what I was in store for ahead of time. After about 5/6 hours of work this white beauty was shining again and my buddy Dan was stoked!

My process.

1. Wheels cleaned with Iron-X lemon. Tires de-greased with APC
2. 2 bucket method with Mothers car wash soap.
3. Paint was decon with Ironx/Nanoskin fine wash mitt/Megs claybar
4. Dried with Megs drying towels
5. Flex 3401 with CCS orange pad and FG400 followed by CCS black pad with SF4000 on the 3401
6. Topped with Pinnacle Synergy
7. Tires dressed with Megs Aerosol Endurance tire spray.
8. Glass cleaned with Megs Aerosol Perfect Clarity glass cleaner.

Dan took a bunch of in process shots.

Nice looking car. I've always liked those. Always nice to see someone helping someone out too. It's the little things that keep the good flowing around in the world. Probably made his day to see it looking perfect.

5-6 hours? You were moving! Car looks great.

Yeah I was getting it done for sure!

Looks great! Lots of good karma for helping a friend.

Thanks guys. I believe in paying it forward. I have had a few people help me out in tight spots and not ask anything from me.

Plus I have a soft spot for these cars. I owned a really nice built SS for a long time. It brought back memories for me polishing this one out

Did the paint bleed?

If it did, what did Dan think of that?

5. Flex 3401 with CCS orange pad and FG400

I've buffed out of few of these cars with factory paint and found the paint to be on the hard side, like Corvette paint.

Did the CCS Orange and FG400 work to remove all but the RIDS?

6. Topped with Pinnacle Synergy

The Camaro's paint looks smooth, clean, clear and glossy...

Nice work!

Have him bring it to Cars & Coffee this weekend!

Yup it bled purple! He thought that was great!!!

Your dead on about the hardness of the paint. The FG400 and orange pad worked great but it does have RIDS.

Thank you! He was very happy with the results and so was I. I have mentioned cars and coffee to him but he may be working this Saturday as will I.

That's funny.... I love doing the Iron X thing to people that own white cars but have never seen the product used before. This is why I always use a white vehicle at my boot camp class for the session on both washing and doing production detailing with an AIO.

Hard and factory thin so it's always good to be careful when working on someone else's car...

No problemo.... we'll be here every second Saturday of each month....

We will have a special surprise guest this Saturday...

:)

I have a black 5gen SS coming in for a exterior this weekend. If he drops off Friday night then I may try to come to cars and coffee.

Holy crap, how do you do all that in 5-6 hours?? I would have maybe finished the polishing with the fg400 in that time. Car looks awesome though, fast car too.

Yeah I had my hustle on that day. But I guess I forgot to mention that the driver side of the car had been painted 2-3 months ago and wasn't too bad. Still hit it with the FG400 but that side went a lot quicker. :buffing:

Would be funny on a friends car with how iron x regular smells, to just pause and say Hmmm that's odd it's never done that before, kind of looks like it's melting the paint off. And just panic.

Good stuff man - always feels good to help out a buddy with something they can't do themselves.

I found the paint to be pretty hard on my 97 SS. I got it pretty nice but my car had rids to :(

Looks great. A white f-body looks great.
