Or own for that matter which is why I feel blessed. I figured some of you would appreciate a great investment, which is why I jumped all over it. Something you would only see at the Oval office or a Museum, I present to you my uncut sheets of 1 dollar bills
(As you can see I was finally able to find a use for my MF gloves lol)

Needless to say I'll be broke for a few, BUT will come out a winner in the long run. BTW a set of a dozen uncut 1 dollar bills a recently sold for 18,xxx so yeah for what I paid I made out like a bandit (not going to say how many I have). They have already made there way to a safe place they will be stored there for about 10+ years then resold when the market is hot.

As a baseball card collector (well a stagnent one) I can appreciate that. But are you sure they will be worth much? I just did a search on ebay and there are several auctions of uncut dollar sheets for dirt cheap. There is one set of 16 1981 dollar bills for $24 ending in 8 hours.

In 10+ years they will go up especially when the 1 dollar bills get redsigned. And the ones on ebay got theres from the same place I did it looks like lol. I knew ebay would get flooded with them, The mint made a special sale of uncut dollar bills to the readers of USA Today. Thats why I'm waiting 10+ yrs.

Man, I just remembered about a 20 dollar bill I had as a kid. When I was like 13 I was snowblowing the neighbors driveway and she paid me with this 20 dollar bill. If I recall it was a 1970 bill which were out of circulation (this was about late 80's). I found out it was worth like $30. I had it for a couple years and I think it was worth $40-50, then one day I couldn't find it and realized I mistakenly spent it instead of another twenty I had. Man was I pissed at myself!

Yeah they take time to mature and mine are only from 2003 and they threw in some uncirculated $2 bills with them. My father has a $10 from the 30's he's holding on too. Most of the cost was from the leather books they came with. I paid face value for the uncut dollars.

Actually they offered me a chance to buy rare blue seal 1 and 5 dollar bills uncut. If you look at the seals on those they are green seals. Blue seals are supposted to be really rare.

Wystang, is there something of particular value to the 2003 bills you snagged?

I obviously have no idea what you paid for your bills but believe that it might take a little longer than 10 years to get an appreciable increase for the money you may have spent. The rarity of bills is just like with coins. If you get the right ones, they are worth a lot. My wife went to the Denver Mint a few years back and bought several sheets (1's through 20's) of uncut bills. These were sheets of 16. They didn't cost her much more than the actual worth of the bill. I wouldn't expect them to appreciate significantly in value for many years. It is more of a novelty for us. I would think it is good advice that anyone who might be interested in collecting these to first find out if there is a specific bill that was made in significantly less quantity than others of the same year. Otherwise you can order these directly from the U.S. Treasury at face value any time The leather books might make nice covers but the fact that they are a privately held marketing company doesn't add any to the intrinsic value of the collection.

Uncut Bills May Be A Rip-Off

Looking for a Holiday gift for the person who has everything? Bill Gephardt found one present that might just be a big rip-off.

This advertisement ran in yesterday's Salt Lake Tribune and Deseret Morning News. It says uncut sheets of real money are "rare" and a hot Christmas gift.

But the government says that's not true.

The company trying to sell this baloney is called the world reserve monetary exchange. They are selling real uncut sheets of four bills: ones, fives, tens, and twenties. For those keeping score, that is a total of $144.

But World Reserve is selling it for $289. Sure, you get a case to put it. But is it worth an extra $145?

When we called the company, they told us the bills have the potential to build in value, even though the only difference between their product and regular currency is the lack of a paper slice.

Here's a little something the Treasury Department told us, if you really want a sheet of uncut bills, they'll sell them to you at face value.

Sheets of eight ones go for $21 and an informational folder for a sheet of four goes for $15.50 on money factory .gov . That is for the 2003 A series bills.

This thread has had me reading about currency most of the afternoon. One of the pieces I read indicated that private mints such as Franklin and Morgan purchase currency from the U.S. Treasury at the same price you and I could buy it for. Any increase in resale price is due to the perceived value of the add ons. Most collectors look for those products exclusively related specifically to the U.S. Mints or Treasury. I looked at the U.S. Mint site and it appeared they offered sets similar to those described for a pretty good mark up too. I know they want $200 for a copy of the Declaration of Independence. That seems a little tough to swallow. All in all you've probably done O.K.

Maybe you could put a coat of #16 on them to preserve them Then again by the time they are worth anything you'd be out of #16
