Sorry I've been out for awhile but I've been working alot!
I'm doing alot of motorhomes and boats now so alot of my time is devoted to them. They pay alot better than just an auto detail. Don't worry, I'm not stopping on the autos by any means! I have several car clubs, Lotus and Ferrari, that I'm gonna be working for. I'm trying to work smarter, not harder!
I've also started a business that goes along with my mobile detailing; mobile car and marine audio/video. I've done car systems all my life and even ran a shop while in college. I've done 4 systems installed this last week alone. I make money off the product as well as the labor....where as the detailing is just labor.
I think they both work hand in hand!
Thanks again to autogeek.com and all of you here for your continued support. There is not a better forum out there!

Oh yeah....here's my new logo to be added to my detailing.

Good luck Justin! If you’re audio work is half as good as the detailing then it’s spectacular!

I can’t imagine detailing a motor home. It must take all day! My Mother’s friend has a giant pickup truck (the kind with a back seat) and a camper top. It is filthy because he parks it outside and under trees. I’ve thought of offering to clean it up for him, but it is such a huge job. Maybe when it cools down below 100 here!

I'll have pics later today.
It was a 38 foot Winnie. My brother helped me on this one. Took us 3 hours to wash it together including wheels and tires. Took another 3 hours to wax, do the chrome, and dress the tires. I also did the window with w vinegar treatment to remove water spots.
I used Optimums spray wax to wax as we dried. Stuff is awesome! Left it slick and shined like a hand wax. Saved us soooo much time!
I installed the Pioneer AVIC-N3 DVD/navigations system in this motorhome the day before
Again, I'll have pics later today.
Thanks Red.

Cool!

Justin,

Sounds like you are on your way! Rock on dude! Not many people can make good money at what they love doing. Keep working where the money is. People like good sound (huge) sound systems on their boats, too.

I did a couple houseboat washes and waxes when I was in college. It was good, but wore me out. Help is definitely needed.

I have always loved washing, waxing, painting, and generally beautifying things. I even wax my lawn mower when I get a chance. I put a custom (can of spray paint and masking tape) paint job on it once, but I have since repainted since it was cheap stuff and didn't last long in the weeds and briars.

Dang Justin, you are the man!! How do you make money off the product too?! Do you have to schedule an install way ahead of time, then order it, and then install it?! Or do you have a buddy locally who can give you good discounts? Sounds good either way and good luck with both businesses bro!

I've been in the business for so long that I know reps from Pioneer, Sony and Alphasonik. I get all of my products at cost. Wiring, enclosures, all equipment. I just mark them up 10% instead of the 60-90% that retail stores do.
I have accounts with them. I mostly have the customer pay for the equipment before installation. They pay the labor part after I'm done. I'm about a week behind for a big system but can always work a headunit installation in!

I was just about to post today asking where you were! Now, where's FlaNative been??

Dude, make sure you get some rest sometime and spend time with your wife and kids. I'm sure you are making a crapload of money but it won't do you any good if you work yourself to death. I wish I was 1/2 as ambitious as you are:D

PS. So the forum members get audio stuff at cost too?? :righton: :D

Justin, I think it's awesome that you are so creative and so good at what you do. You are obviously hard working but a very shrewd business man to boot! I wish you all the success in your new venture. I know it will pay off well for you.!!

Thanks FN!

This was actually the only forum that I was worried about NOT posting in. Wondering what you all were up too!

I'm trying really hard to get this business moving. Patience is not something I have alot of but I'm trying. I just want to make the right steps.

I think you will do great, but yes it will take some time and patience. But look at you already! YOu've been detailing full time for what? like 6 or 7 months now? And look how much word of mouth business you are getting. I think that is a great success to be taking off so well in such a short time after starting out, especially if you are not advertising! I predict that things will just keep getting better and better for you, just don't forget all us little people when you're a big man okay?
