Hey! What do you use to get it so shiny?

I have had many people ask me this question and i usually just tell them "a full days work and thousands of hours of practice" imho u shouldn't really have to sell the potential customer on what brand u use.. its like trying to get a girl just cuz u use a certain type of body spray..
-Kory Kagels (Kagels Auto Detailing)

I knew the body spray wasn't working. Now, I know why. LOL

i agree with mike. getem to the forum then to the ag store or better yet tellem youll do it for a good price.

People at work always ask me how I keep my car so clean.....I just tell them "oh I went to

the quarter car wash on the way in". .....I go with the "never let them see you sweat"

theory. Not trying to insult them I guess I don't want them to know I'm ocd with the whole

detailing thing. I might feel different if I had a nice sports car I guess.

Tell them your a Professional Shine Enhancement Technician and your services are available.

Tom

Wonderful answer. It's never that simple for me. Ihave to explain everything. I'm sure you all figured that.

Depending on the mood, and what the level of interest that I gauge from the person asking:
A - "About 6 hours of polishing, and a 1/2 hour putting some wax on."
B - "Turtle Wax Ice!" (Everyone around here thinks that is the BEST car care product ever invented. I have had LOTS of people tell me that's what I should be using).

DLB

Don't forget the ArmorAll to get your dash that greasy shiny mess that the Turtle Wax people seem to LOVE

i have a tendency to offend some people with my level of knowledge in this field.. when people suggest certain products i usually have a comeback like "well if i was a low grade, detail shop ran by drug dealers(witch most in my town are) i would consider it) usualy in a sarcastic tone.. dont get me wrong though i dont talk to all my clients this way but when people already decline my service i tell myself what the heck just play with em, they wanted a full detail with a 1 stage buff for less that $60

I hand them a card then tell them "Why don't you bring your car by my shop and I will show you on a small spot"

1. Blinker fluid (doesn't make sense, but it doesn't have to :D )
2. Blood, sweat, and tears.
3. Love.
4. Expensive stuff.

Those are usually my answers.

I will tell them hours polishing and then give them the brand of sealant, wax, or coating I have as my LSP. Most people don't recognize the brands so they leave it at that.

A few customers have shown more interest. Those customers I explain the process and tell them if they are interested I can either do it for them or assist them in doing it themselves (for a fee of course). Once they realize how much work and a rough estimate of cost they typically just say never mind.

Allot of hard work, personal skill, and quality products.....:props:

I've had the same type of experience. When I explain the time and effort it takes, most folks lose interest (after giving you a look that makes you feel as if they think you're a nut for taking 8 hours to wash, clay, and polish, and for spending more than $10 on quality products you can't get at the corner drugstore or supermarket.) Unless I get the feeling that they may truly be interested in taking detailing up for a living or a serious hobby, I blow em off.

My friend came back from an inspection one day and they actually charged him for Blinker Fluid and time and parts for that "service." He got his money back.

That's insane. I hope he chewed them out for that and hopefully they don't try to rip someone else off like that.
