Hey y'all,
Hello from Missouri! I've been into detailing cars for a little while, or thought that I was into it... I've been searching around on the forum and found a few things that I've been doing wrong but I think that I may have it figured out... Lets hope so.

I've been looking at getting the PC 7424XP and looking at pads for it as well while I'm buying it. It comes with 6.5" pads, which I don't know how well they will work for taking out the swirls and such in my paint on my Jeep... So what I was wondering is, should I get 5.5" pads? I know that they will give me more cutting power and all that good stuff.

Another quick question, which Pinnacle products would you reccomend for a guy who has never used anything like the PC7424XP?
Polish, finishing polish, sealant, wax, the whole works...

Another thing, about the Pinnacle swirl remover stuff, there is fine, intermediate, and heavy duty, which one would be good for which applications?

Sorry for such a long thread! I just don't know what all I need to actually get the results I want. haha

Lived in Missouri all my life though, just a HUGE Texas fan! I'm going to Northwest Missouri State University for Psychology right now and hopefully I will be able to get into UT's psychology graduate program... But that seems like it is pretty much a long shot right now... Two years left at NWMSU... Then off to somewhere that they don't have snow! haha

I've been using the first generation PC since it was introduced to the detailing world in the early 1990's and they're great tools. I tested out the new XP last night on a project truck and you will love this tool. It's shape is nice and it has the power to tackle most anything you're going to want to remove on your Jeep.

Jeep's have a lot of thin panels so the smaller 5.5 pads will work great and as long as you're using good technique the XP has more then enough power to keep the pads rotating which is want you want for the swirl removal step.

Again, my background is with primarily Meguiar's but yesterday I tested out the new XP with the Pinnacle Line and was very impressed with both Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover and Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish. Here are some of the notes I took during our testing, not all of my notes as there's always going to be some proprietary information gained in the Training Garage but the important parts are just what you need.

Pinnacle Advanced Swirl Remover with the LC 6.5 Orange Flat Cutting Pad on the 5.5 Speed Setting

• Gray in color
• Lotion like consistency
• Low splatter
• Long play time
• Easy wipe-off
• High gloss results
• No micro-marring

Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish with the LC 6.5 White Flat Polishing Pad on the 5.0 Speed Setting.

• Purple in color
• Lotion like consistency
• Low splatter
• Long play time
• Easy wipe-off
• High gloss results
• No micro-marring

The PASR is not intended to be real aggressive in cutting ability so it's best suited for light swirls and scratches, not a severely neglected and abused finish and of course the PAFP is even lighter in it's cutting ability as its a finishing polish. Both are great choices for people new to machine cleaning and polishing as they are very easy to work with, offer a very long play time with easy wipe-off and clear, high gloss results perfect for application of your favorite wax or paint sealant.

Ah... now that I read down I see you're referring to the XMT product line? The above information is based upon the Pinnacle Natural Brilliance Line. Sometimes a few more words helps.

I haven't used the Pinnacle XMT Line as of yet but will testing it out very soon.

What would help is to know the condition of the paint on your Jeep, if it's in really bad shape then it's likely you'll want to start with a more aggressive product and pad combination. Can you share a pictures or description of the condition of your Jeep's finish?

I wasn't necessarily all about the XMT line, I just couldn't find the advanced swirl remover and finishing polish very easily... Thanks again!

I'm from Bowling Green Missouri/Perry Missouri. I've lived in both pretty much all my life, Mom lives in one and Dad lives in the other. I go to Maryville, Missouri for college though. So I'm pretty much all over the northern part of the state these days. haha

What condition is the paint on your Jeep in?
What is your goal?
Is this a daily driver?

Well, I didn't get pictures up, as you can probably tell... It's not sunny today and my camera was dead anyway... But I guess I would say that it's not heavy scratches, but there are a few spots where bird droppings have ate into the hood.... So that will probably be the hardest part to get out.

The goal for me is to just get it looking as good as I possibly can, if that means getting all of the scratches and stuff out that's great, if not all of it, most of it at least... It is my daily driver/only vehicle so it is going to be on the road pretty much all the time and sits outside most of the time while I am at college. So that definitely doesn't help anything.
I will try to get pictures up as soon as I can though.
