Have signed up to this website recently and just thought I'd introduce myself before I start posting. Anyway my name is Adam, (so it isn't just a clever username!) and I'm posting from all the way down here in Melbourne Australia. Been a car nut most of my life but have only really taken detailing seriously in the last couple of years.

I must say this site has been a great find. In particular I found Mike's video on using a dual action machine extremely beneficial! Anyway here are a couple of pics of the old Battlecruiser after I attacked it with the RO.

Cheers'
Adam.

Welcome Adam! Is your car a high performance vehicle? Seems like, every time I read or hear about a car from Australia in Car & Driver or TopGear, it's some kind of affordable super high performance vehicle that we can't get here. From the way they make it sound, everybody down there are high performance nuts!

Is that a right hand drive GTO?

I spent some time in Brisbane and Townsville. Had some good times down there.

:welcome:
Great to have you!

btw: Love that show "chasers war on everything"!

Yeah I guess it would be classed as a high performance vehicle, but it is based on a 4 door family car. Because the population in Australia is so small, there isn't really a big automotive industry so not massive amounts of cash to develop new models. As a result our performance variants a based on run of the mill family cars. I'm sure you're familiar with latest model Pontiac GTO? The GTO is a Coupe version of my car with different front sheet metal. Also your Pontiac G8 is actually the same car as mine. Albeit mine is a few generations old.

I guess I take it for granted that what I drive is easily recognisable because it has been the largest selling vehicle in Australia for well over a decade. Although due to rising oil prices this has been under threat from smaller more efficient cars such as Toyota's Corolla. Even though you see a Chev badge it is actually a Holden Commodore. These have been sold in the Middle East as the Chevrolet Lumina for a number of years. (Holden is owned by GM.)

Anyway here is a little more info on the car...

Fitted with 5.7 LS1 V8 producing 315bhp @ 5200 rpm & 465 Nm @ 4400 rpm although mine has been modified and is over 420bhp and 900Nm!:awesome: This gets fed to the rear wheels via a GM 4L60E 4 speed auto. A T56 6 speed is also available.

I won't bore you to death with specs but here's a link if you're after any more info.

Holden VY Commodore Specifications

*EDIT*

Thanks to all for the welcome whilst I was typing my very slow reply!

Unfortunately it was uglified for the U.S market. The GTO was called the Monaro in Australia. There was even an AWD model released.

Welcome from ANOTHER Adam here on the Autogeek forums! :D Nice car. I was a big fan of the GTO's latest model, so your car is actually awesome, to me.

They seem to make everything ugly before shipping it here. The Pontiac G8 was quite the looker though (IMO). Unfortunately, it's already riding into the sunset thanks the Pontiac's euthanization. I just the prototype Chevy version in Car & Driver or Motor Trend. It won't be as good looking as the G8:awman:

hello adam welcome, the more aussies on here the better ....i say we can learn alot from these guys and improve the look of our vehicles while having fun so enjoy the ride mate
cheerz MAD

Welcome to AGO. Melbourne, did you make it to the F1 race last weekend?

Good to see another Aussie on the forum. Might have to start a roll-call! :dblthumb2:

No didn't make it to the Grand Prix. Not really into F1 to be honest.
