It's a black Jeep Liberty with neglected paint, swirls, scratches, and deep scratches. My plan of attack is m105,m205, then thats where I need help. I would like to use Collinite 84 I think it is...(its on my cart to order) so what is in between the m205 and that? Also can I sub the UC for the M205 or should I just follow with the m205? What should i do after the Collinite? Hey any help would be usefull I've been lurking the forum for a week and can't figure that out.Feed back please

First off, welcome to Autogeek Online!

Are you working by hand or machine?

M105 and M205 are two very great products. M105 can be tricky to work with for the first time. You mentioned UC and that is the consumer version of M105, much easier to work with. I would start off with UC with an orange pad and see how the results came out. You might need to go over the same panel again.

You want want to follow that step up with M205 on a white or black pad to enhance the gloss.

Collinite 845 is a wax that has no abrasive properties. M205 is a light finishing polish that does contain abrasives and no protective properties.

After going over the car with M105 or UC then M205 lay down a very thin layer of 845 and wait about 30 mins to wipe it off. I would recommend putting down another layer of Collinite 845 after 12 hours to ensure that you did not miss any spots.

I don't see any claying in your process and if you are working on a neglected finish, you should probably clay before taking a machine to the paint.

Mike has video's on how to do it. Pick up a Mother's kit if you need something right away.

You process would then go something like this:

1. Wash
2. Clay
3. tape up the car
4. test spot with M105 and orange pad, followed by M205 on a white pad
5. wash the car to get rid of all the compounding and polishing dust
6. wax/seal with Collinite 845

UC is the consumer version of M105. Little easier to work with. Just remember that with M105, less is more and you should be fine.

Thanks guys, @ embolism steps 1-3 were implied. I will just use UC then maybe, I have that on hand I just saw results of others with similar probs and they seemed to get it easier with M105 is that true?. Will it be faster with M105? I am planning on using the Collinite as a wax...I should have typed it out better sorry. I was mainly wondering if I needed a finer glaze or something in between the M205 and Collinite. I see some black paint on here that just looks soaked....I want that!!! Especially on my black Tacoma which is next. Im using a Porter Cable btw. I have orange white and yellow on the way LC CCS. Can't wait I will try and post some before after of the Jeep. Thanks for the help. More is welcomed.

Jeep likely has harder paint so 105 would work faster than UC. Try the UC though, you might just have to go over the panel a second time. Remember to clean your pads often when compounding and switch them out if you can.

I don't think you'll need anything in between the 105/UC and the M205.

use slow arm speed, PC on 5.5, 2x2 sections at most, and mark your bp so you can see when it stops spinning.
