Hello everyone! New to the forum. My wife and I are starting to offer detailing services on the weekends and I enjoy reading the forum for tips and ideas, so I thought I would start an account to interact with everyone!

Hi Gary,

Welcome to Autogeek Online! :welcome:

Here's a tip, make sure your idea for a business name is also available as a domain name even if you don't want to put a website up right away, you might want to down the road.

Also, people think like this,

"What's in it for me"

So try to come up with an easy to remember, easy to spell name that also tells your prospective customer what's in it for them.

For example,

Mike's Mobile Detail
We Clean You Gleam!
Mike Phillips
760-515-0444
www.wecleanyougleam.com (I actually own this just for the purpose of using it as example)

As for chemicals, everyone has their own favorites to use and that comes with time on the job.

:)

I can't believe I've found TWO detailers in LYNCHBURG, VA over the past TWO days! Who woulda thunk?

Welcome Gary, maybe we can find each other in the 'Burg one day and compare notes. I just met adrock (Adam) on here yesterday, met him in person today. We may have to take over all the business in town together!

Wow! 2 other AGers here in the Burg! We'll have to meet up for coffee or lunch or something sometime and chit-chat. Welcome to AG.

VR8 and Adam, I would love to get together and chat! Adam I have been looking at your pics, great work.

My wife and I currently offer hand detailing, i.e. interior clean and exterior clean including clay bar, cleaner wax and high gloss wax finish.

I am working to learn paint correction and maybe you two can offer some tips and tricks. I currently have a Griot's DA polisher (on loan from a friend) and a couple of variants of menzerna polishes. I have been practicing on an old BMW hood but I know I'm missing something, maybe compound (1200 grit).

Talk with you guys soon!

And thanks to all the other welcomes, I look forward to learning more and chatting with all the forum members.

Gary

Ha I was thinking the same thing, is someone driving around Va with an AG sticker?

Not me! lol I think John and I are going to set the bar for quality here in L'burg though. He's a SUPER neat perfectionist and I suffer from a really bad case of OCD with a side of perfectionism. John is also better at detailing time management than I am, so he'll get me out of my 1000 yard stare moments when time doesn't matter to me on a detail anymore and I just want to "get it done right". ;)
