Totally noob here, but hoping to pick up good advice on detailing/caring for my new car 2014 Mazda S Touring), as well as possibly bringing some vitality back to my wife's car (2003 Chevy Cavalier). Every time I think about it I end up giving myself paralysis by analysis cause there are so many products (and so much information) out there!

Welcome to AGO!

Start with the basics. Two buckets with grit guards, a few wash mitts, some clay, and an all-in-one cleaner wax. You're need a bunch of microfiber towels. You'll also need wheel and tire cleaner, brushes for the wheels, and a tire dressing. Once you have those things you can get 'em looking pretty good (at least on the outside...the interior is a whole 'nother ballgame!) If you get the detailing bug, you can go nuts with other products later.

Welcome Ryche! The trick is to just start doing it with what trekkeruss said. Once you start, you get into a groove with frequency and the great feeling of doing it yourself. Seeing the results breeds the "sickness" we all have.

Have fun and ask questions.
