Hi guy's my name is Nick. I live in north eastern Ohio. I have been following this form for a few months now and have picked up a few tips and tricks and really appreciate how helpful everyone is. I am a master automotive technician and enjoy all the nice comments on how well keep and clean my vehicles are keep. Last July I purchased a new black 2012 Sierra Denali HD. This is my third black truck so I know the work it takes to keep black looking good but am tired of the labor a truck this size involves. I had to polish this truck when I got it as I was not happy with the dealers work. It's a full weekends work and on Monday I'm afraid to take it out of the garage. I do use a pk7424xp and also have a few rotaries but don't use them much. I do the 2 bucket wash with grit guards but am never happy with the micro-marring and swirling. Maybe I'm asking to much.
So long story short. I've been reading up on opti-coat 2.0. Dose it REALLY reduce marring?? That's my biggest question. Also will give the wet just waxed look? Can I wax over it? I am defiantly getting a foam cannon. Soon!

Thank you all for any and all input.
Nick

I dont know much about Opticoat because I never used it myself. Maybe some of the other guys can chime in.

However its supposed to add a layer to your paint thats harder than your clear. Making it more scratch resistant, NOT scratch proof. It is still prone to scratches & swirls, just keep that in mind and welcome aboard AGO!

CM8 6MT is spot on with his reply. Opti-Coat does indeed offer a wet "Just Sealed" gloss that will last a long time.

i OC'd my black truck for the some of the same reasons...especially i was tired of getting up and down off the ladder polishing it...

i think it is great and it really repels dirt well too, and give a nice gloss and depth (mind you it took me 28 hours to get it perfect).

you can top the OC as well (including with a second coat of OC), but nothing will really stick to it (except the OC when applied as per the instructions) as im sure you've read.

id suggest using the new NRWW, Optimum ID, or Optimum car wax if you really wanted to top it with anything.

ive read guys using everything from permanon to reload on top of OC, but it will change the "sheeting" characteristics of the OC, and take on the products of the topper until it wears off (which will be significantly faster on OC IMO).

Ive left mine alone and use ONR or CGCWG on it...but i will be getting the NRWW when im out of ONR.

I do understand that it's not scratch proof. I'll have to read up more on the NRWW product as I've never used anything like that before.

Hi Nick. I also live NE Ohio and have benefited greatly from the knowledge of the other forum members. I applied Opti-Coat 2.0 to my wife's Black Sapphire Metallic 2013 BMW X3 about 2 months ago.

First, don't be nervous about the application process. Application is not at all difficult and the vehicle really looked great when I was done. Great shine and depth too.

The sheeting properties of the coating are really helpful, especially in the winter. The water and contaminates sheet off much easier than with other LSPs I've used. This makes my washes both quicker and more efficient. I wasn't quite sure what some of the other meant about the sheeting, but it really is something once you see it first hand.

My experience with the marring is limited as it hass only been 2 months, but all of the research I did told me its about as good as you can get in marring/scratch resistance.

Home something in there is helpful. Good luck!

Has anyone used opti-coat2.0 on textured black plastic trim??

yes..if it is good shape..no problems looks great. just prep properly like any product...if you need to restore or darken the trim, opt for Cquart Dlux.
