Hi guys,
Just new to this forum. I'm from HK and am new to car detailing. I wanna make a complete detailing for my Black Nissan Presage. My tools on hand:
Mothers Step 1 Pre-Wax cleaner, Mothers swirl remover, AG Ultra Shine Polish, 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, 3M Performance finish, Soft99 Authentic Premium Carn. Wax, Soft99 clay bar, Meg. Nxt Tech Spray wax, Turtle platinum car wash. (Also Meg. Gold class wax, but I find that it's just garbrage)
My car has some serious swirls (by last owner), I'd like to minimize them and restore the metallic black color, also maximize the shine and durability.
What is the best procedure to apply my tools, and anything I need to add?

Sorry for bit long, but I've been following this forum for a long time and I believe you guys are very helpful.

Thanks!

For your reference, here's some pic of my car condition (low res):

Got any electric tool for polishing? Mothers swirl remover should remove the swirls but i have never used it so unable to tell you if its has the correct cut needed. It does sound like you need a flex tho... :P

My only tool are my hands:D

No close up sorry...wonder if soft99 wax common in SG? how much for you to buy their Authentic Premium Carn Wax? Me here in HK for around US$24.35

Can anyone helps? I will do the retail in the coming weekend...still have no idea of what is the best procedure...:buffing:

My advice, from a newbie too, is that you shouldn't try to remove swirl by hand, with an abrasive, i use 3m swirl remover and put more swirls....

Now it bothers so much... Hope it help in some way...

Hi there, if you're looking to apply by hand, then you may be better off selecting a product that 'hides' swirls. You're probably not going to make a quick impression on your swirls, by hand, you really need a machine.

As a suggestion have a look at Poorboy's World Swirl Removers http://www.autogeek.net/pbsr.html and Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze http://www.autogeek.net/poorboys-black-hole-show-glaze.html topped off with Poorboy's World EX Sealant with Carnauba Poorboy's EX Sealant with Carnauba: long-lasting protection and a deep, wet-looking gloss! poorboys paint sealant, paint sealer, poorboys ex carnauba

I got to try the Soft99 Authentic about a year back. Its a nice wax but not a Souveran Paste or Fuzion. I was surprised as I really expected it to be the next level in waxes. What sealants are popular in HK ??

For what I know Authentic is the high end for Soft99...but it also has many variants, the one I have is called "New Authentic Premium"...kinda the top line of Authentic...but dunno yet for its outcome cos waiting to do a complete detail for my car this weekendIm the MAN

Btw, HK is not a good place for DIY. Here most shops only sell Meg's, Turtle, 3M, Soft99, some Mothers. Not much to choose from. Most popular sealant should be Nxt Tech 2.0 I think. But MOST car owners just go to body shop to do everything (car wash, waxing, etc.)

Problem is HRBB, is that you are in HK and I'm in the UK and you have products that I have never heard of, let alone used :D

Okay, let's put it this way, how would you proceed with:
Clay bar > Pre wax cleaner > AG USP > 3M IHG > 3M Performance finish > Carn wax OR
Clay bar > Pre wax cleaner > 3M IHG > AG USP > Carn wax > 3M Performance finish
OR other procedure??

Oo..that's really useful, thanks mulder!
one thing more, when should I use the 3M hand glaze? after sealant and before Carn wax?

Glazes usually get applied prior to the sealant and/or wax
