Hi I'm a newbie to this forum as well as the world of detailing. Looking to buy my first random orbital sometime in the near future so I can give my 02 grand Cherokee and 04 dyna some much needed tlc.

Welcome aboard! Get the Griots for most power and best warranty. Get the 6.25 Optimum Microfiber pads if you dont want to buy a smaller backing plate. Get the 5.25 pads and the Optimum BP if you want a smaller BP. I recommend Optimum Compound and Polish II. IMO MF pads are the way to go for a starter! BTW Welcome aboard!
You only need 2 types of pads. I would get at least a pair of each. They are machine washable too.

Thanks right now its a toss up between the Griots and the Flex 3401. Love to get the Flex but I have a feeling that the griots will be more than enough machine for me to learn on. I've been reading a lot of good things about Menzerna polishes but I'll def check out the Optimum lineup too now that you mention it.

Welcome aboard! I'm originally from Newburyport but a few years ago I moved on down to the sunshine state....Now I can detail my cars year round without having to heat my garage!

Nice Newburyport is beautiful I've worked up there a bunch in the summer.
