Hologrames

I have a 2005 C6 Corvette in Black I still have holograms in the paint after doing a full correction. I used a flex 3401 with Meg 105 with a Orange CCS pad I did 6 slow passes at speed 6. I then used a Gray CCS pad and Meg 205 with 6 more passes at speed 5. The car seemed to look great when I pulled it out. I then put on a Meg sealer. The car still seemed to look awesome. Now after a couple of washes I see holograms again Seriously how do I get rid of these things. I have some pinacle series 2 wax i have not applied yet and am sure they would help but in my mind that is just covering up the problem. I am getting very frustrated plus and if I ever find the guy that put these hologrames into the car i will kill him fftopic:. I have many other pads to choose from any help would be appreciated. Feed back please

If you did the paint correction and it looked fine then you got holograms after you washed it a couple times it sounds like you're causing the holograms. You may want to rethink your wash method. Are you using the dual bucket method with grit guards?

Josh triple bucket method all with grit guards using a micro fibre mitt that never gets used on a vehicle with dirt only dust. I also dry the car off with a master blaster 8HP dryer and finish with a microfibre waffle towel.

Are they trails in the paint that mimic they way you moved the polisher over the paint.

This is called DA Haze, not holograms. Holograms are specific to rotary buffers.

The lines you see are inflicted into the paint in the direction the buffer is moved over the paint by the pad and products

The zillions of swirls in the clear layer makes the paint look hazy and blocks your view of the black paint under the clear top coat. This reduces the darkness of the paint making the true black look gray.

Micro-Marring - Tick-Marks - DA-Haze

These three terms are pretty much the accepted terms for a scratch pattern left in some paints from the oscillating and rotating action from a compound or polish and a buffing pad when applied using a DA Polisher.

Unlike Cobweb swirls or Rotary Buffer Swirls, the scratch pattern instilled by a dual action polisher is made up of millions of tiny scratches, some are curved or circular but some are straight, like a small tick mark you would make with a pencil if you were keeping track of a count of some type.

Tick Marks are a sign that either the paint is on the soft side, so easily scratched or the pad and compound or polish you're using are too aggressive to finish out without leaving a mark.

In most cases Tick Marks can be removed by re-polishing with a different pad and product combination.

I then used a Gray CCS pad and Meg 205 with 6 more passes at speed 5.

One problem can be that M205 doesn't always finish out perfect when applied using a DA Polisher.

Pick up a bottle of SF 4000 – Super Finish Polish (PO106FA) and use with either a polishing pad or a finishing pad to remove the DA Haze trail marks.

Would you reserve the SF4500 for showcars? Just wondering. I have 205, and 2 other similar products (D301 and Mothers Prof. hand glaze), and want to pick up on of the Menzerna polishes for a bit more pop should a paint call for it.

Don't know if I would use the word reserve as this word implies this is the only type of cars I would use this product on when it's perfectly good for anyone's car that's looking for a show car finish.

Mike they are defiantly hidden holograms ( no where near the ones inthe pics) I also have a meg polish rated a 3 on the cut scale called swirl remover should I try that on the hood and if so what color pad would you use I have tangerine orange white grey red and the softest one they make not sure the color. Your imputed is very much appreciated.
