I needed a presoak applicator for detailing. I just don't have the $ right now for a foam cannon or anything else that would suffice. Guess what I found in my shed. A old Miracle Gro concentrated plant food applicator. The one you put the powder blue fertilizer in attach to the hose and it mixes with the water and is dispersed. I said lets give it a shot. I put 2 ounces of car shampoo in it hooked it up to the hose and guess what it worked. It's not a foam cannon or a "great pre soak gun" but it did apply a nice slick and soapy coat of car shampoo to the car I was working on. It did not apply shampoo with any great amount of water pressure but it did what I needed it to do. Make the surface slick and loosen some dirt. I still have to try different concentrations. I'm guessing the more shampoo I put in it I may actually might be able to make some suds. So if your in need give it a shot and see if you like it. It works for me and did not cost me a dime. Except what I paid for it 5 years ago. It never got used.

Thanks for the tip! I don't do enough hose and bucket washes to justify a cannon, but I know there's a few different hose-end garden sprayers in the garage. Gotta try this soon.

Bill,
I was in the same boat and someone recommended to me about a horse shampooer that was available at the local TSC. I was able to pick it up for about $30.They sell one very similar at Chemical Guys web site, but was a little more expensive. It is an eZall brand and does a pretty good job although not like the foam cannon. As far a I am concerned at the $30 price mark was well worth the costs, for a part time hobbyist at this point.

Well I hope you guys try it out. I still have to tinker with it a bit get the right mix of chemical to water. It worked good enough for a pre soak. I try not to use my pressure washer. It eats gas and it's 3 gallons a minute. My eyes will be peeled to the garden center at home depot on my next trip for something better. Horse shampoo gun...Would have never guessed that one.

inDetail,
Here are a couple of photos, it works great as a presoak, foamer, been very happy for the price. Not sure if you notice all the similarities. Just a thought, I know we are all concerned about costs.

The sprayer from tsc worked well for me for years before it finally broke. I ended up replacing it with a sprayer I found called the gilmour 362. The sprayer and nozzle were metal and it looked like it was built pretty solid. Best thing was that it only cost me $20. You can find it at some local hardware stores.

:) any pics or video of this sprayer in action? wide pattern spray or focused? foaming capability at all?

The TSC sprayer is relabeled and in different colors by a number of companies. Unlike the video, I did use the mixture inserts in the bottle.

I don't have any videos of it in action, but it does foam well. There's an attachment for wide spray, and also one for spraying solution narrow out to 30ft. Another nice thing is that it has 20 dilution settings. 1 teaspoon per gallon all the way to 5 ounces per gallon.

use a 1:4 ratio... think i'll be getting one looks solid

:xyxthumbs::xyxthumbs::xyxthumbs: I love how the demonstrator is 'shooting from the hip' with the position of the sprayer to his body. :D

Excellent.

I've been thinking of making my own. Good post! I like your thinking

Anyone know if you can put an adapter on these to hook to a pressure washer? Seems like an awesome alternative to an expensive foam cannon.

You should be able to find one that is designed to fit your pressure washer relatively cheap. I know that karcher has one available for around $20

A foam cannon or an adapter? I have a G-Clean Foam Blaster that works great I just wish it had a bigger bottle on it.

a foam cannon. I know you can buy the foam cannons for pressure washers directly from mjjc who manufactures them. It's from Hong Kong though

Stopped in my local Ace Hardware today and looked at the Gilmour one. $20 here. I messed with it and you can take the hide nozzle off of it. Only trouble will be seeing if there is some sort of adapter to get to the quick connect for the pressure washer.
