First time posting, it might not be that interesting as this was way back in 2009 when I first detailed the car and Opti-Guard it... Thinking of doing another round of mild polishing to reveal the new shine but it's been rainy season now at my area.

Anyway, just some ending shots therefore it might not be interesting for some of you. The shots are taken back in 3 months ago to show how Opti-Guard lasted on my car.

Pardon the bad skills in hiding number plates.

-OG appears to be in pretty good shape after 3 1/2 years...

-It also appears that the car cover doesn't cause any "marring".

:)

Thanks for the update! I'll be getting my old FX back in the spring that has both OG and CQ on it and am looking forward to evaluating both. How was the sheeting action?

Nice, I spot a Lotus!

Yup, an Exige S...

Yes it is, I am glad that I spent my time doing it back then.

And the car cover I actually just get someone to help me if possible :)

Sheeting still good... Will do a car wash tomorrow and update the photos :):xyxthumbs:

yea man nice FD, or is it a conversion? i use to own a 07 FA5 and was planing on going that route, but was kinda pricey and decided to go with power lol

It is a FD2 that comes with the K20Z2 engine.

what a testament to a great product...

i read a thread (and i think it was here) where someone claimed their OC/OG wasnt sheeting any more and they thought it was pooched, but after a decon with IronX it was back to "good as new".

As promised, more photos to show the effect of Opti-guard since 2009.

This is the general stuffs that I use to do my weekly car wash. ONR + Opti Clean + a few local made waffle weave + and of course the Cobra Supreme Guzzler.

Wash bucket and Grit Guard

So lets see, rainy season... And the lower part of the car generally will be most dirty

The top part condition

So I started with Opti-Clean spray, to spray and pre-soak all the lower fender and skirt area before giving the whole car a water hose rinse down.

The lower skirt Opti-Cleaned

And I give the entire car a hose down after letting the Opti Clean soak for 2 mins. This shows the water beading effect of Opti-Guard after 3 years of application.

Some feedback and suggestion will be appreciated :)

^^ lovely beading even after 3 years :props:

how do u treat the portion/part which has been bombarded with bird poop? Does OG provides any resistance to it?

Thanks for posting! :dblthumb2:
Are you Japanese (RHD)? I never saw a Civic with that body and those specs.

To certain extent, usually I keep a bottle of Opti Clean and a clean MF in car at the trunk. Whenever there is bird poop, I will use it to wipe off ASAP.

Nope bro, I am in Malaysia. In South East Asia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia all we are RHD... In our region, we pretty much get every spec same with JDM, albeit with some local changes. Here we officially can purchase the JDM Civic Type R (FD2R).

The above mentioned ONR in the trunk idea is smart. OC/OG will protect against bird bombs better than any other coating as far as my research shows. There are numerous reports where the bird bomb outline showed initially but then faded after being exposed to the sun. I get them off quickly in my own case, so I've never had an outline left to test that situation.

OP->Thanks for following up and being your word! Even though OC's strength is in sheeting more than beading, I believe it's evident that the protection is still going strong!

Not to take anything away form OC/OG, but I'm pretty sure Opti-Clean will enhance the beading characteristics on the paint.....no?

Nice ride BTW! ;)

Yes it will, but I only Opti-Cleaned the lower part... The rest all these 3 years only using ONR as weekly maintenance.
