Honda S2000 Detail Featuring Wolfgang Fuzion & Meguiars

A few weeks ago I was approached by a local Honda enthusiast to detail his 2003 "Sazuka Blue Metallic" Honda S2000.

I've been an avid Honda enthusiast since the first time I felt the crisp action of a Japanese-sourced manual transmission, so without hesitating I enthusiastically said YES. Sunday, June 30th couldn't have come soon enough.

Overall the car was in great shape. Nothing about the car made it obvious that it was 10 years old; this was a real gem and the thought of running a polisher over its muscular, refined body lines kept me awake the night before the detail.

Process:

Wash:

Polish

Protect

Having once been the proud owner of a Honda myself (it was an Accord but during up shifts I would pretend that it was an S2000), I knew that Meguiars M205 Ultra Finishing Polish would be a perfect match for the light swirl marks, towel marks and other minor blemishes found on this particular S2000. Meguiar's M205 paired with a white Lake Country Hybrid Power Finish Pad on the lean, mean, paint-correcting Flex XC3401 turned out to be a perfect match.

Wolfgang Fuzion - Accept No Compromise

Two reasons Wolfgang Fuzion was the obvious choice for this particular detail. First, the customer requested the absolute best shine possible without a compromise in durability; he wanted a show-car wax that would last months, not weeks. Second, I'm lazy and Wolfgang Fuzion is incredibly easy to work with. Even if the customer didn't make the first request, I would still have went with Wolfgang Fuzion because it allowed me to sleep soundly that night knowing that I gave my customer the best and I didn't even have to work hard for it. To say this wax is a pleasure to apply and remove is an understatement. Buy it, enjoy it, and accept no compromise.

Until next time....:dblthumb2:

Excellent job as usually. Where are the before pictures? You know I have to break chops. Great job again.

Love it love it love it. Wanted badly to buy a lightly used S2000 before deciding on my 13 WRX. Prices on low mileage used examples were a bit absurd...albeit this is IMO one of the top three Hondas ever made (NSX and Inegra Type-R are the other two).

Gorgeous job on the car.

Great work, yup those cars have very soft paint.
Those cars suck btw...

Amazing work as always, Nick!! The car looks very bright and shiny!! Great set of products too!

M205 is such an amazing polish. One question, why didn't you use the Rupes?

You should have gotten a S2000 after your Accord! :D

Very beautiful! That has always been one of my favorite colors.

This makes me laugh . Love ap2/ap1 rivalry lol.

Good job nick! She looks like a beauty! My friend is actually in the market for one now too... Hopefully when he finds her well be able to clean her up just as well.

Thanks Chris! I tried taking a couple before photos but it was hard to capture the defects; they were very minor and the metallic flake did a great job of hiding them. The car was in pretty good shape overall.

I've always been interested in picking up an S2000 myself, but you're absolutely right about the prices - this car has held its value very well.

Thanks Mark. I'm still partial towards the Flex XC3401. :dblthumb2:

Yes +1 for flex> rupes

I have to agree here. Had a chance to try both this weekend side by side. I really like the forced rotation. The Rupes is smooth but damn that Flex works no matter how much pressure you apply to it.

I reach for the Rupes LHR 21ES when I'm working on vehicles with large, flat panels. The bigger pad and the huge stroke ("orbit") enables the 21 to cover a lot of area.
