Horrible experience with SEARS

I feel for you OP. I have good and bad experiences with Sears/Craftsman.

The other day it was Friday night and I was in a bad mood. It just started getting dark out that night so I decided to close the garage door. I have a keypad entry on the side so I'm punching in the code like numerous times and nothings happening. I'm getting so frustrated and I try the code like 20 times and nothing so I let my temper get the best of me and I take my skateboard and smash it in a million pieces. Pick it up and go to Sears to go get a new one. The guy told me if I had bought the protection plan for $6.95 he would replace it even after I told him I smashed it with my skateboard lol.

lol... wth... well now im waiting til the 18 and see what they going to say this time -_-

Yeah, I had a bad experience with my local Sears back in December. I was getting some new tires and being around x-mas money was a little tight. I decided to just put them on my Sears card since they offered price matching. Looked up the tires at Discount tire which is right across the street from Sears, called Sears up to do a price match. Sale guys said that price was VERY low and that he'd have to have his manager call me the next day. So I wanted until almost 5:00 the next evening with no call back. I called them up and got the manager and he said he simply couldn't match their price! I'm like WTH? Went back and read the price match policy, I even had my wife (who's a lawyer) read it, and there was clearly nothing that stated they had the right to refuse to price match.

I shot off a nasty email to corporate letting them know of the issue. Before I heard a response back I thought I'd call another store to see what they'd say...told her the price Discount Tire was advertising and she said "wow, that's low"! Well, just bring in something showing their price and we'll match it"!

So it was really messed up that my local store (where I'd bought several grand worth of tools and equipment from, not to mention my other set of tires) was not willing to price match but other local store did it without issue. What's even more messed up, and I almost had my wife go after them for it, is that Sears claimed the tires had to be "in stock". However, their price matching policy reads nothing of this and only states that the competitor has to have the item "in stock" at their store.

Sad to see Sears going downhill though....

Killing the brand, cost cutting to oblivion and death by a million bad decisions. Seems like the leadership @ Sears is 50% effective across 2 stores. Yeah, this makes me want to go purchase some stock right now. ;-)

Ya know, it truly is shameful what has happened to one of this country's (at one time) best loved company.

What (to me) is that it isn't just Sears, but so many major leading companies.

Answers? Have no idea...but something surly has to be there for a turn-around.
