Horror Story and Need a Professional Auto Detailer in Daytona/Ormond Beach FL Area?

Man I would think everyone in Florida is a high end detailer.

You'd think lol.

Good luck OP.

Since AG can't. Make a post asking for help in your area. The good Detailers will reply. Try posting in off topic section lots of requests go there at times.

I'd be happy to help. I'm not in the business but am an obsessed weekend guy. If you'd like to get in touch just shoot me a pm...

if you can get to Orlando, go to sikwhips motorsports and talk to Mark. he will take care of you

If I was closer I would come and give you a hand...I am no "professional", but I am positive we could get it fixed up right.

No need to get so aggressive

Most if not all of your defects can be removed by polishing with a meduim polish and a polishing pad on a dual action polisher.

Skip the glaze as it will mask any defects and you could be back to square one again with them coming back after a few days.

Holograms are not that deep that they need to be compunded out with a wool pad.

The key is to preserve as much paint as possible not cut it all away.

The holograms were put into the paint with the same wool pad and rotary method why would doing that again removed them?

I don't know why you would glaze between polishing steps. By glazing, and then hitting it with a swirl remover (if that is the specific order he provided), you're just going to remove the glaze anyway. It's a wasted step and waste of product.

:iagree:

I dont use any glaze

So he glazed, then used a fine polish and he compounded twice? YIKES. dude tell people not to go to this guy, he's just hacking stuff up.

Dude you're in Florida. There's tons of reputable Detailers there. Heck drive to Autogeek HQ one weekend.

Whatever you do don't go back to that dude. He really has no idea what he's doing.paint on your car is soft. Most Infiniti have this from what I've seen. He took like the most aggressive approach and killed it. If he did all that your paint is probably wrecked and thin.

Also just because people use him and recommend him doesn't mean he's good. It means the work he did pleased them even if it was crap work because they might not have known what a proper detail even is.

Perfect answer, if he uses a Glaze before a polish i would run as fast as i could. His method seems very aggressive as well, too aggressive for my liking. He should start with the least aggressive method and see what works best. Find a detailer here on AutoGeek, i guarantee you that you will be forever happy with the results.

You bought an expensive car, give it to someone who knows that they are doing.

Isn't Gary Dean out of Florida? Take it to him. Don't know about proximity though.

Edit: Take this car to someone with a paint thickness guage and have every single panel tested before having anything else done. After seeing what the hack jobs have done to you a strike through might be possible depending on how much clear you have left.

Garry Dean is in Tampa I believe, that's a hike.

I noticed you're in Ormond Beach, I'll be on vacation in Ponce Inlet the week of 4/13, I'll take care of it for ya 8-)

Seriously though, see about getting down to Autogeek for Thursday night classes if you can, they are free and you learn a ton. The only downside (for me, at least) is somehow my credit card balance goes higher and higher when I go there.

As far as the "steps" the body shop detailer told you, using a swirl remover after a glaze is counterintuitive. Glaze should come last before wax if it's used at all. If he is using glaze to hid defects he failed to remove then you will be right back where you started in a few weeks time. The only 2 appropriate times to use glaze, IMHO, is when the car is polished out to perfection already and you just want that extra little bit of depth, or when you park your car on the lawn at a concours event and you need it looking perfect.

Honestly, this guy does not sound like he knows what he is doing if he is going to start by compounding with a wool pad. That is the process that puts swirls and holograms there in the first place.

Start saving some cash and do this one your own, plus you'll feel supe rproud when you do it right.

You can get a portercable kit with everything you need, a few extra good towels, and some maintenance chemicals, and you'll be on your way.

This is very good advice! Not only will he get this problem solved, he'll know how to keep his car the way he obvously wants to keep it for the rest of his life! Buying the PC (or equivalent) and the supplies will cost no more than having this problem taken care of professionally.

I uploaded 3 pics I just took.

Trunk shows holograms which are worse then shows just cant get a good picture to show it all. Other two are of front quarter panel and a zoomed in one also.

My question is, are those micro spider scratches going to be removed for good and be gone for good?

The place I took my car to that caused the issues it willing to pay to have the problem fixed. So i am trying to see what I should expect the final fix to make the car look like.

^^ WOW That's some holograms..wow.. I would not be happy either :(

Way to ruin a beautiful car.

I hope you find someone from AG in your area, there must be someone who can help!!!

Can we all start a petition to ban dealerships from washing and buffing cars? 9/10 times they do more harm then good and get away with it. I for one am sick of it. It's happened to me as well as OP and so many others before us. It's complete bull s***!

You're getting lots of good offers to help here. I am confident that those issues can be corrected, as bad looking as they are. My offer to help stands - I have a paint thickness gauge which you're welcome to use to assist in gauging the extent of the damage, in addition to three DAs and a myriad of products that I have no doubt could fix you right up. Check my post history / thread starts for "References". :xyxthumbs:

If nothing else I could certainly help with a test spot so that you can show them what it SHOULD look like.

Best of luck - great car and it will be great looking with some help!

PLEASE take on Rob's advice to get your paint back in shape. I am confident that you guys can get that black paint properly polished out over a weekend.
