What is everyone using for hoses? I've gone through 5 hoses in the past year and it's driving me nuts!!

I have bought cheap hoses and expensive ones. Hoses that claim to not kink, be extra strong, blah blah blah.

In the past week alone I've gone through 2 hoses. One was a cheapo that I had, so I wasn't all that upset. Friday I go to the local hardware store and pick up a Gilmour 8 ply hose 50 ft. Says it won't kink and can handle up to 500 psi. So I figure I should be good to go.

I used the damn hose twice and yesterday I have my hose sitting on the ground, waiting for me to use it and I hear pop and water running. I walk over and sure enough the hose burst. I don't even have great water pressure coming from my front faucet. I've truly fed up with this and need to find a hose that won't kink and that won't pop under any type of pressure.

I honestly am at the point where I don't care how much I spend on a hose as long as it's going to last me.

Sears Craftsman rubber 5/8 hose. I'm going on 5 years with it and it stays outside 365. I unscrew it in Winter and leave it out. Good hose.

+1:xyxthumbs:
They got a life time warranty, so if they break you can just bring it back to Sears and they will replace it.

I bought mine from griots garage. Lifetime warranty. Had my 1st one from them for 6or7 years. It eventually developed a hole. I called them up and they asked me to take a couple of photos of the hose and failure. I did that and they told me to toss it while they sent me a new replacement.

The ones I have are the "commercial" 5/8 from Lowe's. No problems yet and these are the 100 foot variety; black with gold stripe.

I also picked up the Gimour a few month's ago and while it hasn't developed a hole/burst yet,it's already kinking on me :(

I heard GoodYear makes a excellent hose :dunno:

I get the mid grade $20 one from Wal-Mart (red) it comes with a 5 year warranty. I take the reciept and staple it to the carboard cover it comes with. When it gets a knot in it, I return for a free one (warranty)

The heavy duty hoses are a pain in the rearend IMO. It seems your having to constantly wrestle with the hose while washing

I saw those and was going to pick one up but didn't. Instead went to the local hardware store. I'm going to take it back for a different one for now. But going to pick up a better one at some point. It sucks being at a job and my hose pops a hole.

I have an 8 ply 50 ft hose I bought from rural king. Best I've used to date. I'm probably going to look into the coilling ones though.

I use these also and have not had a problem yet...going on 3 years now. I learned that any hose that is green is going to fail me. I can say one thing for sure, hoses aint cheap considering what they are.

:iagree:

I noticed that it does kink every now and then, but it easily unkinks with a simple twist and it only does it when I get careless to uncoil it. I also like that since it's so flexible, it will remain flat on the ground and minimize rubs against your car when you pull it from its coiled position.

Rubber is the best. But its heavy if you're going mobile

I would suggest you go to your local hydraulic hose shop and get yourself a good-year hose. The black is for cold water, the red will do both. These are the best hoses I have ever used. They don't kink.. but they are heavy in the weight department.

Good info guys. I'm going to check out the hoses at Sears and the ones again at Lowe's. Will probably end up with the Lowe's version only because Lowe's is 5 minutes from my house and the nearest Sears is a good 30 minutes away.

I use the one's from Lowe's. Had them outside year-round now for 10 years with no prob. 'Course I have a hose reel. Maybe that makes a diff?
