hot/steam pressure washer

Im planning on starting up a car wash/detailing shop and planning on using hot/steam washing.

is this a good idea?

what are durable and good quality hot pressure washers? I have heard about kranzel and karcher anyone who has feedback on both? what is more effiecient and economical to use in the long run since it is going to be use for business and durable as well.

yeah. those hot water.

no, I just wanted a durable one and cost effective one. maybe a 2 or 3 unit would do.
 
so its a bit overkill? I was just thinkin of you something new, are those hot pressure washer kind of expensive?

Doesn't have to be too expensive. I found a used Therma Kleen 1000 (1000 psi, turns to REAL steam) for $350. There is a marked difference between a hot water pressure washer and a true steam capable unit. For tar, engines, even compound removal, I really like the steam capability. I even combined it with my Milwaukee vacuum at a hand extractor wand to make a cheap and powerful (though bulky) extractor.

The major brands would be Sioux, Lakota, and Therma Kleen. All the above said, I don't think I'd spend the $6-7K for a new one in a shop. As much as I like using mine, I could still do everything without it, even if it takes a bit more chemical.
 
are those Therma Kleen good for everyday use and abused? I was looking for those karcher unit but saw on the pressuredirect site that the motor is not intended for long use coz the pump might burn out.

Maybe a durable yet economical pressure washer will do.
 
I have one at work that we don't use anymore, I think I'll bring it home to use on the really filthy trucks I get at times, the hot water would make it much easier to break up dirt that's been on the paint for a year, yes I get those, big money but hard work but wow,the end results always makes my customers jaw drop:)

Yes, the Therma Kleen is an industrial unit. For ~$7000 (new) it darned well better be!
 
so what would you recommend to stand daily use but not pro/industrial use. maybe a bit on the middle of both. $7K for a new unit is costly
 
I still suggest to carefully shop used. If, however, only new will due, take a look at Northern Tool. I used to have their big two gun trailer and it was filled with quality components. Some of their smaller units will likely have the same features.
