Hello,

I own a 2006 Toyota 4Runner Limited in red salsa pearl and just had it painted from the grille to the back bumper. The sides of the vehicle were not re-painted since they are in good condition. The top was re-painted because the clear coat was peeling and flaking off badly.
I wanted to know when it will be safe to detail the newly painted areas and what is required to protect it when I do. When I am able to detail it should I just apply a sealant and wax or is there more required to get that showroom shine?
I use the PC7424XP with the LC pads and Megs MG to detail my vehicle. If you have any other suggestions on better products to use on a newly painted vehicle I'm ready to try them.
Thank You,
Dennis

I think that you are supposed to wait 3months to let the clear cure. Someone with more knowledge will chime in an correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't have any first hand experience with fresh paint. I have read that you can use glazes to make it shine until it cures. Meguiar's Mirror Glaze is a line that caters to those in need of products that are "paint shop safe". Do some searching, I'm sure Mike Phillips has written on the subject iirc. Good luck!

Mike,
Thank you very much for the helpful information you provided me here. I have been following your instructions on AutoGeek since last year and can't beleive how my car washing and detailing process has improved when caring for my vehicles. Im the MAN
Thanks Again,
Dennis
