This past weekend I got a one worded "hate" text.
I couldn't figure out who it was and why they were mad at me.
I googed the phone number and an ex-employee came up.

I fired this kid after 4 strikes so I was justified in letting him go, this was 5-7 months ago.
I text some childish stuff back, blocked him from my phone and pages.
Went on his page and commented that he's using my pics and what a hack he is. I know that was childish but I was having fun?
I caledl the cops to document his harassment and to get him to stop texting me, he did.
I'm assuming this is the end of it.

I was wondering if you guys come across this and what do you do to prevent it from happening again?
I'm thinking of getting a "non-discloser" agreement I think that will help in the future.

Non-disclosure are only as good as the person who chooses to spend the money fighting them in court. In the end, you end up spending more money trying to defend your interest than they are worth. Where they have value is with the employees that don't know better. The ones that do, they laugh in your face and tell you to bring them to court. This would be a civil action that only you can bring to court (and you would be responsible to foot the bill).

Another quality scare tactic tools which only benefit large corps with deep pockets (to fight them) or with a legal counsel on retainer is the non-compete. Actually, in my state, a non-compete is no better than toilet paper unless you were directly responsible in providing the "formal" education background needed to compete against you. Even if you are to bring someone to court, the court issues a cease and desist, but there is no real enforcement, so again more money thrown at filling court paper etc...

Don't sink to the level of a disgruntled ex-employee for starters. If you're a serious business person, why make time for people who can't manage to remain in your employ?

Just forget about him. It's a waste of your time. Don't take offense to this. The best thing you can do is hire better employees do a back round check ask for references.
You have a image and a reputation to uphold you want to make sure you are employing people who are interested in the same. If you need to let someone go hopefully in the future you let someone go who has the integrity to walk away with some pride.

Thanks guys.
I know a Non discloser is a waste but I was going to use it as a scare tactic and that's all.

Yes I stooped to his level. I won't do that again.

I'm done with employees anyways. I can do a much better job myself and not pay anyone.
