Now that I have your attention, Everything I have researched on this site about polishing out scratches states to polish an area of 18' x 18" or 2' x2'.
So does that mean you polish the hood in 4 - 6 sections?
Doors in 2 sections and so on. How big of an area can I polish at one time?

I usually do doors in 4 sections, hood in 6 sections, etc.

Usually if you try to polish too big of an area, results will suffer. Just take your time...

You can also lay some polish down in sections of the hood, and "pull" the polish into the pad as you move along, so you won't have to stop and add polish as often.

a 2x2 area is what I use. overlapping slightly with each section. I personally wouldn't go bigger but there may be some that do. just my .02

I've never even thought of that, great idea :)
I'm polishing my car now, I'm going to try that tonight.

As a general rule you want to work in an area no larger than 2' x 2'. It should always vary depending on the polishability of the paint and the tools you are working with. Doing a 2' x 2' section by hand on a car with hard CC will get you nowhere. ;)
