Question: How do you get a kleenex to dance??
Answer: You blow a little boogie into it. :p

Okay I know that joke is only funny to like 5 year old kids and that Disco is long dead, but I thought it a lighthearted way to introduce my topic. My topic for today is favorite tunes to detail by. :D

I believe that we are all sensual beings and I believe that it is the sensuality of detailing that attracts us to it. Washing the car, the feel of the paint smooth like glass under our fingers, the look of a shining, gleaming, mirror finished car; the smells of the products... I have seen sight, smell and touch referred to heavily in these forums and although I don't think there will be any eluding to taste, (Please don't anybody go tasting their detailing supplies), I have not seen a single topic on sound.

I know for me I am a huge music fan and back in the day I was one of those people who would just sit with headphones on and listen to a whole record for fun! (For you youngins out there we used to have these vinyl things called records before the invention of the compact disc, I won't even try to explain to you what an 8 track was!) ehehehe

Anyway, I know for me that is a big part of the enjoyment of detailing. Yes the main reason I'm out there is my car that I cannot keep my hands off of, but it is also a great time for me to put on the headphones and get old school listening to whole "albums". And I'm sure I'm not the only one. So my question out there for you guys is... What are you all listening to and what are your favorite tunes to detail by?

For me right now I am in a U2 Achtung Baby mode. That album has a great rhythm to wash and wax by, (Wax on, wax off) Okay I am totally dating myself. lol But sometimes I get really old school and put on some Van Halen ehehehe Or if my Cuban genes are getting the better of me I'll but on some Buena Vista Social Club, Juanes, Grupo Mania or Puerto Rican Power, but I have to be careful because then I start singing and dancing too and my neighbors start looking at me funny. :p

I'm thinking of starting to do some themed detailing sessions like maybe some Depeche Mode or the Scorpions when using German Wolfgang. Or some Bad Company, Golden Earring or maybe some Boston for DP or Poorboys. Okay I know Golden Earring are Dutch and not American, but Radar Love is such a great cruising song and they don't sing with any kind of accent so I claim them for America!:p but truly for Poorboy's I think I would have to do reggae some Third world, Aswad or maybe some Bob, Jimmy or Maxi. It's that title Natty's it always reminds me of that song about "Natty dread locks" :p , as for Japanese clay.... hmmmmmmm, I can't think of any Japanese bands. Only del Japon. ehhehhe Have any of you heard of them? They are a Japanese Merengue band. There music videos were hilarious! But they were pretty good I have to admit.

Hey that's an idea. Maybe Autogeek can come up with their own CD, 20 greatest detailing songs! Or could even re-write a few oldies to reflect the product lines?? Can't you see it? "you down with UPP yeah you know me" or "Guess who's coming to dinner Natty Paste Wax" Okay maybe that wouldn't work and I know that AG isn't selling Four Star so forget that idea!! Sorry guys I'm on 3 hours of sleep, does it show? ehehehehhe

Anyway, this is a reach out and get to know what my fellow autogeekers are listening to topic, sooooooo What are you listening to??

hello , any pink floyd , just saw the aussie floyd last week , they were brill .
peter frampton live in detroit.
and as im welsh , steriophonics

I usually hear no music, just "Hey you missed a spot" :o

oh, Poor Meghan. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have music on. I think I would probably create my own and start singing, (if you could call my singing music that is. The cats sure seem to like my voice though, they always join in meowing when I start singing) ;D

Ah Floyd,
How I BREATHE in the memories of those songs. If I had TIME and MONEY, I'd run down under and do some detailing with you. :-) I guess we'll just have to be TWO LOST SOULS SWIMMING IN A FISH BOWL until we meet in the GREAT GIG IN THE SKY. You know there's no dark side of the moon really, as a matter of fact it's all dark. :D

Thats funny my mom always said when I was a kid the others in church would move away when I sang. I am not sure its that bad, but just incase I dont sing in church anymore.

ha ha ha ha ha. Oh poor little Meghan. I can just picture that in my mind this little guy all dressed up in his Sunday best and parting the congregation like Moses did the Red Sea. lol But seriously, you should sing. It's good for the soul and besides God says to "make a joyful noise" (notice he used the word "noise" ehehehhe) He never said "sing beautifully to Me" I say let it rip Meghan and see if you can still part the crowd. :-D

very good florida , im just comfortably numb atm , because it wont stop raining

ehehehheh. Yeah I've heard about those monsoons ya'll get. WISH YOU WERE HERE?
ehehhehe

When you run out of Floyd, there's always Genesis, the Who, Supertramp, Queen etc etc.
Any Classic Rock is OK with me. :)
Of course a good helping of Jimmy Buffett and a couple of Margaritavilles would make any detailing job smooooooooooth.

When I am detailing, I usually turn on classic rock... Floyd, Aerosmith, Foreigner... (my momma raised me right!)

Oddly enough, when I autocross, I listen to Beethoven.

I have probably the most eclectic taste in music that you have ever seen, Rap, Rock, Country, Classical.....

BritOnWheels you are a man after my heart. Supertramp, Queen and the Who! Man those were the days. I think all I would need to add is some Zeppelin, some Skynard, some Clapton, oooh some Stevie Ray, Jimi, Joe Walsh, some Lou Reed and I'd be ready to detail all of South Fla! ehehhehe

DodgeGirl, I'm with you girlfriend. I have got so many kinds of music in my collection from Renaissance (or however you spell it) and Celtic to classical, R&B, rock, hip hop it's all good! My closet tells it all, I have in there a cello a violin and a kick butt electric guitar! ehhehehhe One day if my hubby will let me I'll get a drum set too! ehheheheh
