How hot does your PC 7424 get?

That's probably why you don't have the spacer. It is for use with the PC backing pad. Seems like few others have this binding issue, so I'm willing to bet most aftermarket backing pads have enough offset built in.

This is my first post...Anyways this should be stickied because I just bought a PC from AG and I used it for a couple of minutes and got pissed because it just didn't seem to work right. It got hot and would bog down really easily. Then I read this post and decided to put the washer on and give it another try and the PC worked like a charm. I'm sure that there are plenty of people like me that have had this same problem. It also doesn't help that the washer is barely ever mentioned, but is such an integral part for the PC to function correctly.

Man, I beat my head against a wall forEVER on this one. Such a simple thing, too. Problem is - not all backplates need the washer. So someone will get on here and say "You don't need that spacer, mine works just fine without it" and the frustration will continue.

Stop worrying about the anemic PC and get a rotary from AG. Don't let the wimps scare you off. If you have ever used power tools, this is not that big a deal. In fact, the reason you are having trouble with the PC is because you are expecting it to work like a rotary, and so you have to dumb down to make the PC work. Like the no-cut scissors they had you use in kindergarten.

Man-up to a rotary. :)

Thanks for sharing your manhood with us, but
1) your post has absolutely nothing to do with the topic
2) I already have a rotary.

Just trying to incite the masses! Posts on other forums were intimidating about the rotary. I had one and didn't use it except for trouble spots. Now I am an evangelist.

Sorry if you took it wrong--didn't mean to offend you.

I love the rotary as much as anyone, but we just got done saying that this common, yet simply problem with the PC is left unsolved because of irrelevant advice.

Funny--there is another post in here about saving time with a rotary versus the Hand Massager (and lots of posts about pads), and you didn't get knotted up. Maybe we should take each other off our Buddies list, and call it a day. I now give you the courtesy of the last word--

I'm not a PC user (yet) but would it help to open the "house" and put it some new lubricant?

No, the PC uses sealed bearings. No need for lubricant. The PC barely gets warm, as long as there is no binding. The spacer solved the problem in the original post.

I would definitely check on that with A.G.

Havent read the entire post. But if your PC is over heating then make sure your pads are secured and centered.

I just started using the PC. I found that it was getting too hot to hold and bogging down. When I found this thread I tried adding the spacer. It made a HUGE difference. Now I see why people use this machine. Thanks for the advice!!:applause:

Never had a problem with it till today. I use the edge system and went to change pads and burnt the crap out of my finger on that little release button. It was also 96 degrees outside maybe that had a little to do with it.

It's good to have a swift solution right there bro. But tell me, does the lubricant inside these machines last for years if you use them every day? I might be overzealous but to me it's like changing oil on the car to clean out the house and put in new lubricant. Just my 0.02.

it is using "sealed" bearing.... you cant relube them... they are lubed at the factory and they then place a cover over the bearings housing... no way to put lub in ......

hot and bogging down

sure glad i read this forum before complaining, got my pc 7424, couldn't wait! then started on my nova. so dissapointed. put the machine on the car and it stopped. got very warm. put it all back in the packing, paid this much and can't use it!then came in and started checking the forum. felt like a fool, but was happy i checked it out.found out about little gray spacer,( which in my opinion should be attached at the factory because of idiots like me who don't read directions), went out, found it in the trash, put it on, works like a charm. thanks guys!!!
