I had to wash a vehicle in the direct sunlight today, and was having trouble with water spots as expected. ONR doesn't do this, so i saw my foam gun hanging on a nail in the shed and dumped a couple chug-a-lugs of ONR in it and the rest water and did a final rinse with this solution with the foam gun setting on full. It worked great and acually made the water magnet i was washing bead up nicely (ONR tends to do that for some reason) and voila! no water spots! i though it was clever somebody might have already done it, idk, i was just shraring!:xyxthumbs:

sounds good for fighting waterspots after a final rinse.

Thanks for the cool tip.

Does ONR soften water? That alone would help- maybe even use a garden sprayer with this solution in it?

This sounds interesting. With the hard water here, I always end up with white dots all over the car which means a required trip around the car with QD after washing. Plus this may make for safer drying step in case of any airborne grit. I'm going to give it a try to see if it gets me to the cold beer phase of my car wash routine quicker.

Wacky, but it works. I used an Ortho garden sprayer set to a half ounce per gallon. After my last water only rinse, I quickly sprayed the ONR over the car. Using one towel to pick up the majority of water and another for the final wipe and dry. The car came out looking like it does after hitting it with a quick detailer. Plus the door jambs and windows didn't need an extra step to get them right. The key is to quickly, but thoroughly rinse the car with the ONR because you will burn through a lot of product if you are slow. I've tried the ONR in my wash water, but the results were never like this.

I have to say this is a great tip! Here in Florida our hard water dries so quickly on the car that it always leaves horrible water spots. Thanks Kelley!

Thanks for posting this! I am going to try this with my G Foam Blaster.

maybe you guys in the South have less time than us northerners before the water dries after rinsing but doesn't sheeting the water leave very little left to dry/cause waterspots anyways?

The water is drying on the surface of the car throughout the washing process even if you attempt to keep the surface wet by rinsing the whole car after washing each panel. My best results have been achieved washing the car in the rain. My neighbors tend to pretend they don't see me as they drive by when I do this though. :)
